ACM Awards: TK style!
I do believe this is my first award show recap. I've loved doing award show previews since I've been writing and figured now is the perfect time for my first TK blog recap, and what better then to do the ACM Awards? Well lets get on with it shall we?
Let's start with Song of the Year, which went to Jamey Johnson for “In Color.” Now I think that it is an ok song, but come on that should not of won, I think it should of gone too, “Waitin on a Woman” by Brad Paisley, but that's just me.
For single record of the year the honor went to Trace Adkins for “You're Gonna Miss This.” I think this song was the correct pick, because no matter when you turned country radio on, that song would be playing, and it truly is a good song and very deserving of this award.
*Note, huge props to Trace Adkins for his performance last night with a few of our Armed Forces. The song was great and the performance was a very moving one, and was a very nice tribute to our Military.
No big surprises came when it was time for the categories of Top Vocal Duo and Top Vocal Group which went to Sugarland and Rascal Flatts respectively. Both acts are at the top of their games and with Rascal's upcoming cd release, it wasn't a surprise. There are no other groups out there who can challenge Rascal Flatts at this time, although give it time and Lady Antebellum will soon be a force to be reckoned with.
Top New Male Artist went to Jake Owen, who I thought has been around for ages but apparently not. He's an ok artist, don't listen too much of his music.
Top New Female Artist went to Julianne Hough, who I think isn't that good at all. She has no staying power and can't compete with Taylor and Carrie, so I'll let her enjoy her few minutes of fame. Although major props to just how hot she is, she looked really good last night.
Now time for the shockers of the evening:
First up, Top Album of the Year. Personally thought this was going to go to the King George Strait, but it did not. Instead it went to the Princess of Country, Taylor Swift. In what was one of the more memorable speeches of the night, she was totally taken back and floored. She is younger then me for heavens sake and is on a roll. She is the best selling artist of 2009 with her album I still believe in the Top 10, if not the Top 5 on the charts. She is very deserving of this award and is only going to add more trophies to her collection as her career rolls on. Remember she's not even 20 yet!
Now for the crowning jewel in Country music, Entertainer of the Year! The nominees were, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, George Strait, Keith Urban and four year in a row winner Kenny Chesney. Now while Julie and I thought it was going to be a 5th straight time for Kenny, we were both proved wrong and how. Matthew McConaughey presented the award and gave one of the best pre-speech monologues in history. The point of the story is I got laid, thanks George, awesome line. So when it came time, the winner was none other then Carrie Underwood. Yes the Queen of Country dethroned all the heavyweights and took home the award for women since 1972 I believe.
*Carrie who I think is one of the best looking women on the planet, is awesome. Must say though, for those who saw her perform last night, that giant red dress, it made her look like Jabba the Hut from Star Wars, am I right or what?

All in all, there were a lot of good performances and those who deserved to win, I thought mostly did. Can't wait to get out there and see some country shows this summer, it's going to be great!

Weekend rebound.
Well as I sit here now I was ultimately thinking about posting my ACM Awards recap, which I should have sometime tomorrow afternoon, and I am not now because I am freaking exhausted. Had a killer weekend at Bradley visiting my brother and some friends, and am just worn out. It was a pretty good time, got to experience the 'OCTABONG', twice, and did my first ever keg stand as well, so that was exciting. All in all a good weekend, and more posts to come tomorrow afternoon when I get off work.

TK's take on 'Adventureland', this ride is a bit overpriced.
TK's take on Adventureland
This park is not funny and a tad overpriced.
Well from what was teased to me in the previews, I didn't set my expectations too high or too low for 'Adventureland' and I'm glad I didn't. As the movie progressed it ultimately had very few laughs and it just dragged on a bit too long.
Where the movie slows down for me is the main 'love' story between James and Em. Now the tale of the two of them falling in love at an amusement park is great and all but it drags on for too long and at times for me I was thinking when is this all going to end. The constant back and forth between the two ultimately gets tiresome for me and at times I was kind of hoping the movie would wrap up. While the actors really play down to earth average kids that the audience can really relate to or even be like, 'hey I've been that guy,' at a theme park just trying to have fun over summer, it grows old and quick.
Ryan Reynolds, an actor known for his comedy takes on a much different role in this movie as a married man who is the park's mechanic, and at the same time is also having a secret affair with Em. Now throughout the movie Mike (Reynolds) tries to guide James into calling it all off with Em, because James confides in Mike that he is starting to fall for Em as they spend more and more time together. Now James, who is a smart guy in the film and brags about his tests and literature skills, doesn't catch on to the man's act. The kid has all the brain smarts in the world, but apparently no common sense? I just find that a little irritating and for someone to be so smart he really is just dumb and blind to what is going on around him.
The movie in this viewers opinion falls short and just doesn't live up to it's potential. 'Adventureland' doesn't take advantage of the very funny Bill Hader and Kristin Wiig and spends too much time on other plot points that aren't very necessary to the love story of James and Em. For me, the funniest parts in the movie come from Hader and that's about it.
Some other scenes that stand out are James' friend Frigo, who loves to low blow his friend at every turn, and during a party where he yells “Boner,” when James is getting out of the pool, that's really about it. It's just not that great of a movie. And it is unfortunate to say that because it could have been so much better, but hey I'm not going to be the only one who dislikes a movie, and I know there will be others out there who I'm sure will enjoy this movie, just not me.

TK's Spring & Summer Movie Preview: April
Well instead of putting the entire summer movie list up I chose to do a month by month movie preview. This is something I did when i worked on the Lewis Flyer and it is something I really still enjoy doing and sharing with people. So up first is the month of April:
April:
Fast and Furious (April 3)
TK's take: I was a fan of the original Fast and the Furious and must say am kind of eager to see this movie. This movie brings back all the familiar faces in which is sure to be a movie loaded with hot babes and fast cars. Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are forced to team up again as another enemy presents itself to them. From what I hear this looks to be the final movie in this franchise and should go out with a bang. From what the trailers show, this movie looks to be chalk full of action and insane looking cars. Worth checking out!

The cast is full of familiar faces including Ryan Reynolds, Kristen Stewart, Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig. The movie focuses on a college graduate who just doesn't have the money or the skills to go on his dream vacation so as a result has to find a job. He takes a low paying job at this theme park and there meets some people he never knew existed. This movie should be full of laughs and one-liners and is one I'll definitely be checking out.

TK's take: Seth Rogen fans will flock to this movie, and that includes me. The trailer that was attached to 'I Love You, Man' had me laughing out loud more then once and the movie looks to be amazing, and far better then Paul Blart: Mall Cop, or whatever that movie was called. Anna Faris, Ray Liotta and Michael Pena also star. Rogen plays a rather proud head of security mall guard who is determined to find a male flasher and bring him to justice and will stop at nothing to accomplish it. I think that putting Rogen and Faris together is going to be quite a comedy dynamic duo and should lead Observe and Report straight to the top of the box office and be another hit for Rogen and co.

TK's take: This movie looks worth seeing strictly for the cast it boasts. Russell Crowe, Rachel McAdams, Jeff Daniels, Jason Bateman, Helen Mirren and Ben Affleck all star in this drama. This movie centers around a Congressman's mistress who is murdered and a investigation is launched. The movie dives into the twisted world of politics and secrets will be uncovered that no one knew existed and if let out would be devastating. If you're a fan of drama and suspense this movie looks to deliver in both categories and will definitely be a must see this April.

TK's take: This movie was originally supposed to be released around Christmas last year but was pushed back because the studio thought it would make more money if released during the spring. This movie generated a lot of Best Picture buzz when it was screened and who could blame it? The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., and Jaime Foxx. Downey plays a journalist who comes across a homeless man playing his violin (Foxx). We learn that he was once this musical prodigy but a series of events unfolded that led him to lesser circumstances. Together the two form this amazing relationship as Downey's character sets out to help Foxx's character become known not only to him but to share his gift with the world. This movie should definitely be considered again for not only best picture but for it's acting as well. This movie will certainly be one of the better movies of the entire year!

So that's the first month of movies. April is kind of slow as the big movies don't get released until next month but as you can tell there are some good ones coming out that are worth checking out.

Bears Breaking News: Cutler headed to Chicago
Ok well for those who don't know I am not a Bears fan but am actually a Miami Dolphins fan. The breaking news is that the Chicago Bears traded away Kyle Orton and their 2009 1st round draft pick along with their 2010 first round draft pick, all in all a steep price to acquire a QB whose career record as a starter, is sub .500
While I think that Jay Cutler is a good quarterback, he isn't a great quarterback. He had a career year and a pro bowl year this season with Denver but is coming to a Bears team with whom? The Bears need help in almost every offensive position. Aside from the tightend combo who else do the bears have that Cutler can throw to? Obviously there are some big names left out there in free agency including Marvin Harrison and Tori Holt, but both I think are on the way out and have one or two good seasons left tops.
The problem with Cutler's winning percentage can also be accredited to the Broncos defense that ranked near the bottom over the last couple of seasons, and did let a couple of decent sized leads slip causing a few unnecessary losses. I think this is a huge move for the Bears one that is full of enormous potential but also one that comes with a lot of risk. You just gave up your starting quarterback who has a better winning percentage then the man you just acquired. And gave up two first round draft picks, that is a lot no matter which way you slice it.
Obviously Cutler is going to have a lot to play for as he wants to prove critics and most of all Denver wrong. I think he is going to have some good years here for the Bears but I ultimately don't think unless the Bears upgrade the weapons around him, that he will carry them back to the Super Bowl anytime soon.

Well for those who didn't read my American Idol Recap, yours truly predicted 2 of this week's bottom three and managed to guess Megan was going home, and wasn't saved by the judges. So yeah that was good lol.
Also Like A Twinkie, my bowling team had our first lose of the season thanks to my horrific bowling tonight but managed to take 5 out of the 7 points and remain 5 up in the standings. I'll be back next week.
Watched the Real World Brooklyn finale just now and it was awesome, one of the better seasons yet!
