A chance to catch my breath and let me unwind...

Hello everybody, as you can tell my blog has suffered lately but it's all good. I have been very busy so let me bring you all up to speed with the past few weeks or so. Things are going very very well with my girlfriend Amanda as we just recently had our 2 month so I couldn't ask for a more perfect girl, I love her so much. So although she is still away at school I try to see her as often as my work schedule will allow but that always isn't the case but we're making it work for sure!

As for the usual entertainment aspect of the blog lets dive right in.

The Office Wedding-
Best episode the show has ever done in my opinion. From start to finish there were classic moments including that outrageous beginning with everyone throwing up, that was comedy gold. The show is really hitting a new high this year as there have been some classic moments that hopefully come next year award time will finally earn them another Best Comedy Win!! But the episode was full of very joyous and laugh out loud moments but some very down to earth moments that I fell in love with from episode one!

When Pam is feeling like a wreck and she calls Jim into the room to talk and she goes on about how she feels ugly and that this isn't how she pictured herself on this day, the moment where Jim cuts his tie and says there were even, I will admit I got emotional. These are the two most perfect in love people and the way the show has handled it was superb. (Yes I do realize and sometimes forget I'm watching a television show, not real life!) It was perfectly written by the show's Creator Greg Daniels and executed wonderfully. Terrific acting by Andy, Kevin, Oscar and of course Dwight, he is the man!

And finally the wedding scene where they all dance in, I never knew that was a youtube thing until the show brought it up and finally watched the original source of that dance last night, pretty damn funny!

Back to reality...

Life has been very busy lately as it seems like I have something going on every day lately and time is flying by. It took a second today to realize that were already halfway through October, I mean halfway through October think about that!!

It's almost Thanksgiving already and then it will be Christmas time, good lord! But this is my favorite time of the year as I just love the holiday season. But we'll discuss that some other time.

Let's talk sports huh, how about my Yankees hmm? 3 wins down 8 more to go until Mission 27 aka winning our 27th World Series Championship is complete. I cant wait plus my Dolphins are on a two game winning streak and are starting to turn around, so all sports teams are in the positive direction.

Yeah so life all in all is pretty much perfect right now aside from a few minor details that I don't feel like ranting about here but yeah can't complain. Life is good and I promise to try and post new things on here more timely :)

So until next time, peace!

TK

TK takes on the state of TV Fall 2009 Edition: The Best Shows!

Well now that the air has been cleared and my conscious has been cleaned I think it's time to move on with what TV has gotten right this season. With quite a few new shows sparking my interest this season, I feel good about the future of most of them so let's take a look at some of the best new shows on TV and some of the best ones that have been going strong for several years now.

Sunday's-
The best: Dexter- There really isn't anything wrong with the new season of Dexter thus far. I think it is one of the best written and one of the most talented cast of actors assembled on television. The addition of John Lithgow as the trinity killer has only added to the Dexter universe. Michael C. Hall makes my jaw drop each week as I think he is one of the best actors out there. The show sticks true to it's winning formula each season and is probably one of the best shows currently airing.

The best: Family Guy!- This show after two new episodes this season has won me over again after a terrible previous season that was filled with some new lows for me. But so far this season I've been laughing out loud like never before. Take for instance the season premiere where Stewie and Brian jump around different universes. I think the idea and premise alone are funny and just to see where they were going to end up was hysterical. The Disney character universe good lord I can't stop laughing about that one.

The show has gotten back down to it's core and that is funny jokes and even funnier and more random flashbacks. I think it will be interesting to see how the show fairs without Cleveland but I don't think they need to worry about that because fans are going to tune in each week to see what kind of nonsense and mayhem Peter and company find themselves in next.

Well as for Monday's there is nothing that really gets the best nod. Aside from Heroes, I also watch Lie to Me but that is in the middle for me right now so can't put it on my best. Also have gotten into How I Met Your Mother but have only watched one season so I can't put that anywhere yet but judging just season one it would easily fit into the best category. And as for Tuesday's like I said in the previous post I don't watch any shows on Tuesday's so onto the next night!

Wednesday's (The best new show of the season!)
The best: Modern Family! Let's talk about the show that I've become obsessed with. The pilot episode was one of the best pilot episodes I've ever seen. Never has a show really grabbed me like this one did and I just love every single person on this show. From the cool dad to the gay couple, this show just flows flawlessly. It is like one of my favorite shows on TV now just after two quick episodes.

Ed O'Neill is terrific as the center piece of this very strange and fun loving family and his take on what being a good parent is all about is so funny to watch. I think this show really covers what a modern family in this country is all about. They all go through some hard times and good times and yes find themselves in some very interesting situations. I think this show easily gets the title of being the best new show this season and I hope it sticks around for many many years to come!

Thursday's-
The best: THE OFFICE! Come on, like there was any doubt I wouldn't feature my favorite show on this list. But I'm not being selfish here, The Office has rightfully earned a spot on the best show list. In it's sixth season, The Office is on top of it's game so far and with the wedding we've all been waiting for airing this Thursday you just have a feeling that this episode could become an instant classic!

The show is on the right track creatively and character wise as well. I love where the show is currently and am so intrigued by the possibilities of what is next for Dunder Mifflin. With two co-managers now I can't wait to see what other story lines stem from this as a result. What other antics are in store for beloved characters like Andy, Kevin and Oscar and the biggest question will Dwight and Angela ever become an item once again? And will Michael ever find true love and happiness, I have a feeling he will!

The best: Flash Forward! This show intrigued me from the trailers I saw on the screen and they've proven to be worth my viewing. This show is very very complex and interesting and am left wondering what is going to happen next week. The show's premise is so interesting and is something I've personally never seen on TV before and that makes for good viewing and an entertaining show if you ask me.

The characters are ones I have become interested in and just want to know who is responsible for the entire globe blacking out. I can't wait to see what happens next and I definitely think Flash Forward is one of the best new shows of the season and is one that will be around for some time to come!

Friday's and Saturday's do not have any best!

So there you have it, the Best shows of the Fall 2009 Season according to myself of course. Did I miss any shows? Are there any shows I should be watching but am not? Please feel free to comment me and let me know, am welcome to hear any opinions.

Happy viewing!

TK takes on the state of TV Fall 2009 Edition: The Bad Shows!

Well for those who don't know I'm very into the world of media obviously as many of my blogs revolve around TV, Music and Movies. So you know I like to talk TV and figured after watching a couple of new fall shows this year and getting back into the ones I've been watching for a couple of seasons I'd like to address some concerns I have with some of the shows I watch.

Let's take a look at the worst shows on TV by day, shall we?

Sundays-
The worst- The Cleveland Show.
Well maybe it's not fair to put this show there because they've only aired two episodes and I have only watched one but talk about trash. I didn't and I repeat didn't laugh out loud once during this Family Guy spin off that features Cleveland Brown in a whole new world. The thing that makes this show fail is the characters. The neighbors aren't funny, the flashbacks aren't there and oh yeah Cleveland and his family aren't funny by themselves.

Take a look at the Griffins. Peter is hilarious by himself and all the family members, Lois, Chris, Stewie and even Meg bring something to the tables as individuals. I think it was very premature to give Cleveland his own show and I just don't see it lasting. I think they should of kept Cleveland as part of the Family Guy fab four instead of putting one of it's greatest characters in a new town that lets face it, ain't no Quahog.

Recap: Sunday's are actually a good night for TV but we'll touch on that later... but The Cleveland Show takes the honor of being the worst show on Sunday nights!

Mondays-
I need to do something different for this show because it's not terrible but I have to come clean with myself and the general public and say this show isn't nearly as good as it was when it debuted a couple of years ago. Heroes!

Heroes when it first came out was something that absolutely had me sitting in front of my television set every Monday night just wondering what was going to happen next. And after watching last night's episode, I almost just don't care. The show wastes too much time worrying about irrelevant stupid things instead of developing a story and characters. Take last night's episode. Hiro tries to save some guy at his company who is going to jump off the building because he is ashamed that he photo copied his butt. Give me a break!

So what does Heroes do, we waste about 14 or so minutes on this garbage instead of I don't know spending it on new stories and characters like the Carnival people. Heroes is all over the map and it's just becoming harder and harder to watch and I've come to peace with it. The show is sadly on a lost road covered in very thick fog and it's just one that the Heroes no matter what power they use will ever be able to escape from!

Tuesday's and Wednesday's are in the clear. In part two I'll touch on some shows that are actually on the best list and are quite refreshing on TV this Fall season, so stay tuned for that.

Thursday's-
The worst- It pains me to put this show on the chopping block but I've tried so hard to like this show and kind of did in the beginning but so far this season it hasn't kept me laughing. Parks and Recreation!

I really tried to like this show my friends but just haven't fallen in love with any of the characters and sorry does this show have a general storyline other then the stupid pit? Amy Poehler has her moments on the show but other then her the show's supporting cast is very weak. Rashida Jones, isn't funny and Aziz Ansari is the only one other then Amy who can make me laugh and the laughs are few and far between.

I just feel that after I watch it each week that the show and it's creative team are afraid to take the story somewhere and it shows. I don't laugh much anymore during a P&R episode and it's a shame because I wanted this show to work and last but sadly I don't think it's going to survive this fall season considering the time slot and the other new shows and competition that it faces each week. So watch out Andy (Chris Pratt) you may have company joining you in the pit pretty soon!

Another show that gets the sticker of being not good this fall season is a fellow NBC show- Community!

Sorry but for all the hype this show got I'm just not buying what they're selling. Maybe I just don't get the show's humor but I just think the show is very boring. Joel McHale and Chevy Chase can provide some good one-liners at times but other then that I'm just losing interest with each new episode and I think other viewers are also because ratings are starting to show that.

Community I think was way too hyped up and it's just not delivering. I don't think the show offers characters we can really get attached too, to be honest. I don't find myself wanting to tune in anymore and I honestly think it's time to delete these from the DVR because I think Community's time might be on a very short leash!

Friday's well they don't count, no one watches Friday shows ha!

Saturday-s
The worst- This one may be the easiest night of the week. Saturday Night Live!

What the hell has happened to this show? With two new episodes under their belt this season I have found myself so disinterested with a show that I have loved watching since I was a kid. Megan Fox and Ryan Reynolds were both very very boring as hosts and the sketches this year have been pathetic.

Is it just possible to have Justin Timberlake as the show's permanent host, because other then him, there is no one else worth hosting it seems. This past week for example I was expecting a lot with Ryan Reynolds as host. He is a very funny and talented guy but his talents didn't shine through at all as his sketches were very boring and very not funny! The digital short this week with Andy Samberg almost made me want to shoot myself.

What the hell is his appeal? Throw things on the ground? Really? God this show reaches new lows each week and better hire some fresh new writers and players soon before it's too late. Or I guess we could just have Lady GaGa get more screen time then the host, cause that was brilliant also!

So there you have it, the worst of the worst of the Fall 2009 TV season. I can't wait to feel a bit better about what I watch as I'll be posting the Best of the Fall 2009 TV season shortly, so keep a look out for that.

Until then, happy viewing!

TK reviews 'The Office The Promotion'

The Office 'The Promotion' Review

The Office is back and the beginnings are the best this season and today's was no exception. Love how Dwight went back and forth trying to get Michael and Jim to sign him expense reports. Cut to Dwight in the conference room telling us how he is going to put Jim in a triangle choke hold, it's all priceless!

James, Jim and Jimathy, is it ok if I call you Jim? Romantic birdhouse, donuts and pregnancy

So let the power struggle begin am I right? Now that Jim has become Co-manager with Michael things are heating up at Dunder Mifflin. Speaking of which how is it that Jim has an office all of a sudden in the corner? I don't' remember ever seeing that before, but anyways. Michael has been having a lot of conference room meetings and Jim is seeing that as nothing more then a waste of time so confronts Michael to stop the meetings. Clearly this upsets Michael and what is he doing later on in the day, having a closed door office meeting where Jim and him butt heads again.

David Wallace calls the Scranton branch and informs the two co-managers that there isn't enough money this year for everyone to get raises and then it is up to them two to figure out how to divide the money up properly. So of course Michael lets his frustration show and hates the fact that he has to do this with Jim and not by himself.

Pam is having a hard time deciding on her eating habits as we see her staring at a box of donuts. On one hand she is pregnant and on the other hand is trying to lose weight to fit into her wedding dress. Phyllis reveals to us that she is going to give them a romantic birdhouse and even asks Pam if she registered for a birdhouse online. Of course not. Kevin approaches our Pam and asks where they registered and she lets him know that they didn't register anywhere and that they just want cash. Kevin asks 'Money?' And he writes them a check and he makes out to Mrs. Pam Halpert and Pam freaks out because she has never seen it written out before.

Back in the conference room, Michael and Jim gather to figure out what to do with the money. Jim who has a good idea comes up with a pro/con list about all the possibilities of how to deal with this issue, while Michael just rambles on and just upsets Jim. Finally Jim just lets it all out and tells Michael he isn't good at handling tough situations and that he may actually know what he is doing and that is why he was put into this situation, to help with serious problems. So Jim who thinks the money should go to the sales team unveils his plan to the office people and an outrage ensues. The accounting department led by Oscar and Angela just complain and ultimately forces Jim to do a little rewind and come up with a new idea.

Love the conference room meeting with the team and how Creed just says yeah, while the rest explain their anger. Back in the meeting, Michael says a merit system could work and so they come up with a way to figure out how to come up with a way to disperse the money by putting jelly beans on the picture of the person they think deserves it. And we see a picture of some weird looking creature, who Michael tells us is Toby. So as they begin, they have to leave to go answer an email from Wallace and thus enter Dwight who causes another uproar and questions Jim's authority and power as a co-manager and tries to cause a mutiny but of course no one goes with him.

Michael kind of breaks down a little bit and tells Jim that he always used to have to make these decisions alone and offers Jim a present- world's best boss mug. Filled not with coffee but with gin, so what a nice present right? So no resolution tonight but yeah that's the office politics for you.

Best line of the night: Creed- Why haven't we ever... Meredith- we have.

Random thoughts: was interesting to see how both Michael and Jim interacted as Co-Managers and should be quite interesting to see how the two work together here on out. Love how the staff just continues to uprise and voice their outrage and you just know something is going to happen sometime soon.

Loved the ending with Ryan and Pam, and the $100 now or $5000 a year from now.

Solid episode in general and who cares cause the WEDDING IS NEXT WEEK! AND IT'S AN HOUR EPISODE!

TK reviews 'Heroes Ink'

Heroes Ink Recap:

Alright my friends it's time for a new installment of Heroes, so without further a due, let's do a little rewind.

The show starts off tonight with Samuel and Lydia in a trailer, with Samuel discussing he may have found someone to replace his departed brother Joseph. And it's none other then Peter Petrelli. We also see Samuel manipulate a jar of ink and he absorbs it through his hand and while Lydia tells Sam she can see whatever it is he wants to see, he says back that this liquid isn't for her, so hmmm interesting.

We also see a mysterious new character who I suppose has some sort of power and has like her whole bed shaken when her alarm clock goes off, to wake her up, so that was kind of odd.

Matt and his partner are sitting outside their suspects house and Parkman admits to his partner that he used again and is no longer sober. (Used his power last episode to ward off the repair guy). Mean while he is having a more difficult time controlling Sylar who is now fully embedded in Parkman's brain. They break into the house and Sylar is everywhere but also helps Matt capture the guy by telling him he is in the closet.

As Parkman and his partner continue to search the house Sylar continues to play mind games with Parkman just tempting him to use his abilities to crack the case instead of wasting time, but Parkman refuses to give in. As Parkman goes into the bathroom to search for evidence, Sylar offers up one of the best lines in the show's history, 'it's because I ooze charm.' Sylar continues to point Matt on the right track and we discover that this house could be something more serious then just a place for hiding drugs.

Matt discovers a ransom letter and a pink stuffed rabbit and once again uses his powers to question the suspect and he unveils that the girl is hiding under the stairs. He finds a girl but he is too late as the girl is dead. He starts beating the suspect until his partner comes back and Matt explains how he murdered the young girl. His partner goes to the stair case and sees that there isn't a girl or a ransom letter and we see Sylar explain that he used Parkman's power against him.

Parkman is in serious trouble as he is going to be in trouble but uses his power to tell his partner that nothing happened here and that everything is fine. Sylar tells Matt he is proud of him and tells him that they should go find his body.

Peter runs into our mystery lady back at the hospital as he asks to see a patient's records, one in which he saved. We see her listening to her iPod but it isn't plugged into anything and Peter notices it also. The mystery woman knocks over her cup of coffee and a spark of red or something is emitted and the two just kind of look at each other before Peter goes to visit the patient who is Samuel. We learn that the mysterious woman is Emma. She is deaf and is able to see/hear sounds as colors and that she doesn't want people to know she is deaf.

The two meet but Peter is suspicious at first because he can't remember saving him off that bus that one night but Samuel assures Peter that it was him. He goes on about how it's his responsibility to look after his family since Joseph died and needs Peter's help because he knows what Peter is going through and how fast he is. He doesn't' want to let anything bad happen to his family on his watch and makes a plea for Peter to help him.

It turns out that Peter is being sued by William Hooper (Samuel) and Samuel even breaks into Peter's apartment and using his ink touch power thing, puts himself into the picture hanging on Peter's wall and Peter comes home and clearly sees that he was at the scene of the accident. Peter catches up to Samuel in the park somewhere where the two engage in a conversation about the loss of his brother Joseph. Peter and Samuel have a handshake which I'm sure will turn out to be significant. Also at the park is Emma who is sitting watching a man play an instrument and she can see the colors being let off by it. She starts playing it and several bright colors are released as she plays. As she draws to the end Peter is back watching her play but she runs off when she's done.

Back at the college scene, Noah stops by and asks Claire out for lunch but the annoying Gretchen who saw Claire last episode throw herself from her window is accompanying them also. Gretchen makes the lunch scene a bit uncomfortable as she says things that makes Noah raise an eyebrow or two and gives Claire an interesting look to say the least. Noah wants to call the Haitian to have her erase Gretchen's memory but Claire says she can fight her own battles and doesn't need her fathers help. After dinner Claire and Gretchen start to open up to one another, because Claire is tired of keeping secrets all to herself. Claire ultimately tells Gretchen she has an ability and even shows Gretchen her ability to heal.

Peter is called to a job and it's the house that Samuel visited and we see that the house is completely gone and it fell into a sink hole. Peter's compass tattoo starts going crazy as well with Samuel overlooking him.

Overall, the episode was pretty solid this week. I continue to love the Sylar/Parkman story line but as a traditional Heroes fan I want Sylar to get his body back and wreak havoc.

A weekend rewind..

Hello everyone, hope your weekends were fantastic and long. A lot was going on for me this past few days and as a result the blog didn't get top priority. Sorry to all expecting my usual 'Office' episode recap, I just didn't have the time this weekend to do it, but don't worry I'll be putting it up Thursday cause I'll be home to watch it live as I don't work Thursday night, so hooray! But here's a quick recap: ONE OF THE FUNNIEST AND BEST EPISODES OF THE OFFICE EVER!!!

My wonderful girlfriend was home this weekend so we spent all day Saturday running around town during the first half of the day and then her and I joined my Uncle, Aunt and Grandma for dinner, cause they were all in from Florida visiting. So time was an issue and obviously there are other priorities then the blog, but don't worry I'm back!

It was such a great weekend as Amanda and I started watching How I Met Your Mother Season 1, and I have to say it's an awesome show. Neil Patrick Harris is so freaking funny on the show, it's terrific, so I've become an official HIMYM fan for life. Can't wait to watch the rest of season one this upcoming weekend! What an awesome show.

Just laid back this afternoon which was awesome as well. My Yankees clinched the A.L. East Title this afternoon by beating those fags- Boston Red Sox and also earned their 100th win of the season, I smell championship number 27 in the future!

Terrific weekend all in all, so time to relax tonight and catch the premieres of Family Guy, The Cleveland Show and of course DEXTER!!!

So have a good night everyone, and check back Monday night for 'Heroes' recap.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: And the nominees are

Hello everybody, I hope everyone is enjoying their Wed morning, I know I am. I love days when I don't have to go to work till four, I can just lay around the house and do whatever, and that's nice. So figured before I really start to over work myself this morning, ha joke, that I'd stop by the old blog and write a little something.

Something that caught my eye this morning was the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees were announced.

Highlighting this year's list are:

KISS, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, The Hollies and LL Cool J, to name a few.

Now while I think the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke, this year's list of nominees only adds fuel to this fire. I mean come on here, LL Cool J and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Neither fit into the category of Rock and Roll bands and neither possess the resume that qualifies them to get into it.

Now don't get me wrong, I love the RHCP, but they are not a rock and roll band. They are more alternative, scratch that, they are alternative rock and just don't belong in the hall of fame. LL Cool J, give me a break, that's all I'm saying about him.

Kiss deserve it because they are one of the biggest bands in the history of the genre of rock and roll. There was never a band like them before and the staying power they have is quite evident today. With a new album and massive world tour starting within a month, KISS is the only band on this list other then Genesis who really have done anything to warrant a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2010 Class.

Sound off, do you guys agree with me or not? I would love to hear what you think, so please let me know.

TK reflects on 'Heroes' season premiere

Alright boys and girls, I have just finished watching the 2 hour season premiere of 'Heroes' and I must say I am a bit mixed on what I saw.

First things first, I love the mystery surrounding the new crop of bad people this year, aka the Carnival folk. Samuel, whose power remains unknown at this time has a grand master plan which I'm sure we'll involve all of the familiar Heroes we've come to love and even hate. Along side him are Edgar, a speedy knife thrower and the lovely Lydia who can see people arrive at this carnival and know some stuff about them as well. I think they are very mysterious and add something that was missing in this show last year and that is the potential to have some serious villains on the show.

Back to the others for a minute. Claire is being the typical annoying Claire and I've really grown tired of her. She is a freshmen at college and is trying a new philosophy in life, telling the truth. But yet she gets dragged into the center of her roommates mysterious suicide/homicide/death and lunges herself from the window only to have a new friend, Gretchen see her popping her ribs back into herself, gross by the way!

Peter is back to being the hero he has always wanted to be. He has Suresh's speed and agility and is using the power to save lives as a paramedic. He is called into duty yet again by Noah and encounters Edgar our speed demon knife thrower where the two have a massive duel using knives and he takes his power and is now even faster.

I love the whole Matt/Nathan/Sylar triangle. I think it's creepy how a part of Sylar has made his way into Matt's normal day life. He is embedded in him and until Sylar gets his body back, things will only continue to get worse for beloved Matt I'm sure. Nathan on the other hand is starting to discover he may be more then he ever has been before. He notices strange changes are happening to him and tells Angela that he feels invincible, a prelude to come I'm sure.

A lot of dialogue and wasted time occurred tonight for me, as not much action took place at all in the show's two hour premiere. The thing that excites me though is the potential for this carnival story and how it is going to unfold. Am I hooked on the show yes. I'm not going to stop watching it no matter what as I love this show and some of the characters on it, go ahead call me obsessed, I don't mind.

Noah and Tracy are starting to form an interesting connection, but I'm sure that will ultimately go no wehre seeing that Tracy at the beginning was trying to kill Noah and almost did and now is visiting Noah in the hospital because he was attacked by Edgar who managed to steal the compass back from Noah. What is the deal with the compass by the way?

The premiere while not action packed sets up a lot of interesting things. Will Sylar reemerge and who is going to band together to take on the carnival?

'Heroes' season premiere gets 3.5/5 stars from me! I'll be watching every week you can count on it!

TK

Monday, September 21, 2009

Finally, the time has arrived: 'HEROES' is back.

Hello yet again, fans of my tidbits.

I am so excited for the 2 hour, yes 2 hour season premiere of 'Heroes' tonight you have no idea. The sad thing is I work tonight till 9 which means I'll not be watching it live but I get to watch it through my trusty DVR which means no commercials, oh yeah! As I did last year I did review the show on a weekly basis and you can bet your ass I'll be reviewing my show again this year.

'Heroes' is under my microscope this year because as a die hard fan of the show which I am and will remain until it is no longer on NBC, the show has suffered since it's historic first season. With ups and downs almost every week and the back and forth story lines that our characters go through, it's hard to sometimes see where the show actually is heading. But with Bryan Fuller, the recently departed Fuller, (sorry left the show, isn't dead) who had a hand in the season's first 5-6 episodes, I hope that this season gets back to it's beginnings and takes us on a kick ass story.

With the trailers all over the web this season does look to be getting back to focusing on characters and introducing us to a new cycle of villains, known as the circus. At least that's what I call them. There are about 5-6 new main characters added so I just hope the show does a good job balancing everyone out and not going all over the map. The show can be good scratch that great at times and I just hope that with a shortened order season, only 18 episodes this season instead of the usual 24, Tim Kring, the creator gets back to what made Heroes so awesome in the beginning.

So check back late, late tonight as I'll definitely post my season premiere recap after I get done watching it.

TK

A quick Emmy recap..

Well for those who read my Emmy predictions, I didn't do that bad. I correctly predicted that Bryan Cranston would win Best Actor along with Alec Baldwin for winning Best Comedy Actor and of course predicted that 30 Rock and Mad Men would win best shows for their respective categories.

Didn't see that Tina Fey would lose so that was kind of surprising. Otherwise not a lot of upsets last night and I must give credit to Mr. Patrick Harris, who did an awesome job as the night's host. Made the show lively and energetic and just wasn't up there boring America to death. So major props to him for that and would love to see him host the Oscars maybe sometime down the road also.

So yeah, once again I do come through on the predictions although I won't hype myself up that much because every year 30 Rock and Mad Men are nominated I'll just pick them to win, even though they don't deserve to, ha.

TK predicts the 2009 Emmy Awards

Well I've loved doing award show predictions while I was a editor on the Lewis Flyer and now that I've had this blog for some time, that tradition is going to continue. So with the 2009 Television show's all gearing up to take home the trophy, let's get on with the categories that matter most:

Best Comedy Series:
-Entourage
-30 Rock
-Weeds
-The Office
-Family Guy
-How I Met Your Mother

TK reviews The Office 'Gossip' Season Premiere

Well it's back my friends, the review that all of you told me you loved last year, so here's to my second year of reviewing my favorite show on TV- The Office.

God it's been a long time since The Office has been on and a lot has happened to our Dunder Mifflin workers. For starters, the rumors and gossip was proven to be true as yes Jim and Pam are pregnant but the way the rest of the staff learns is quite interesting if you ask me.

Gossip, the title of tonight's episode shows Michael being left out of the gossip that revolves around some of the new interns. So of course Michael doesn't like being left out of anything including poo ball, who knew that wasn't real, apparently not him! So what does Michael do to get involved and be noticed? He starts spreading completely outrageous rumors about all the staff. Most notably, Dwight's manure, a little person living inside Kevin controlling him, and my favorite theme of the night- Andy being gay?

God how awesome is Ed Helms as Andy Bernard. He plays that character so well it's ridiculous. But the biggest news of the premiere is that our beloved Stanley Hudson is having an affair, yes the laid back quiet Stanley is cheating on his wife with his nurse Cynthia. Of course it all starts out as untrue until Michael confronts Stanley where he unveils to him and us that it is indeed true. So that is kind of shocking to see how one of the most beloved characters on the show is actually cheating on his wife, cause she has been doing a lot of travelling and is lonely at home but is actually in the car going to call it off with her.

Overall, loved the season premiere. There were a lot of laughs and I loved how they incorporated the interns into the end of the episode as well. The Jet Li part was priceless because Michael Scott will call you that all summer long. And a ream of paper is 300 pages, wait it's 500 pages, well I guess I learned nothing this summer.

Well I learned that the season premiere of The Office has set the bar high this season and I only will continue to expect great things from this show as the season unfolds.

TK's take- 5/5 stars, laugh out loud funny.

TK rant on Taylor Swift vs Kanye West

Well you all knew it was coming and I just have to rant about this whole little ordeal. So there I was watching the absolutely dreadful VMA 09 Awards. I mean how far has this show fallen? Russell Brand as host for the second year in a row? What is his appeal exactly? The man isn't funny and just looks obnoxious. MTV out of all the personalities out there, this is who you choose to host one of your biggest nights of the year? Give me a break here...

So back to the evening shall we? For best female video you had all the heavyweights in the category including Beyonce, Lady GaGa and of course Taylor Swift, who to me just doesn't belong on this show because I think she is more talented than any other so called artist on this show. So when her name is announced I was like holy crap, this young country girl is taking over the MTV Universe with this award. And just to think that I was excited for her, imagine how Taylor felt? She gets her speech going and you can see she is so happy and energetic up there to have won and then up comes this stupid lowlife piece of shit- Kanye West.

There are other words I'd use to describe him but for the sake of my readers I'll keep it PG-13. Talk about a low life, scumbag, self-absorbed piece of garbage. For him to go up there and interrupt Taylor's award time is just astonishing. To dare say how another artist who has nothing to do with you has one of the all time best videos in front of the winner is just shady. I loved the camera cut of Beyonce saying oh no not again. And loved it even more when the crowd booed that piece of shit.

I will applaud two people this night. First, Taylor Swift who had to go perform like ten minutes later and gave one hell of a performance of her current hit, 'You Belong With Me.' And second I must say I earned so much more respect for Beyonce. When she won the final award of the night and instead of thanking everyone she could of, she invited Taylor back on the stage to have her moment and I just think that's one of the greatest things I have ever seen on an award show, well I guess this isn't an award show as much as it is a joke!

So to Kanye West, I mean I despise everything about you. If today you were to get hit by a bus, is it kind of weird that I wouldn't care at all? I think you are lower then scum and don't care about anyone other then the person you see in the mirror. I ask you, maybe it's time to take a closer look at your life's priorities and take a step back and get yourself back down to reality because not only is Taylor more talented then you and successful currently, you're dangerously close to falling off the face of the map entirely.

A great day..

Well so today was a fantastic day. Got to go to the White Sox/Red Sox game with my girlfriend Amanda, her brother Kyle and my buddy Mike and it was just a fantastic time, minus the whole stupid Red Sox fans, team and players. Man do I hate those guys.

Afterwards got to have a nice family get together and dinner to cap off a great day. It's been an amazing weekend and it sucks that it's almost over. But man today was good.

Night all.

TK's Outlook on the 2009 NFL Season

Ok friends, for those who don't know I love football. It's my favorite sport ever and there is nothing like the game of football. Every play can make it or break it for a team and with a lot going on in the NFL this off season, what with the whole Plaxico Burress thing and the Michael Vick situation, it's finally good to see the preseason games in full swing. So as I did for the MLB I gave my predictions, so it's time to take a look at the upcoming NFL SEASON!

Let's take a look at the AFC. This is by far the most dominant of the two conferences as it is packed with at least four to five teams that can easily win the Super Bowl this year, but we'll touch on that later.

AFC EAST:
Winner- New England Patriots.
TK's take- They are stacked and with Tom Brady back and what appears to be close to 100 percent, watch out NFL. He had a whole year to rest up and heal and I think that he is going to take the Patriots to a whole new level. They are loaded on both sides of the ball and with Brady and Moss hooking up for at least 15 plus TD's again this year, they are the team to beat in the AFC East. (Sorry this is hard to say cause I love the Miami Dolphins, in the same division.)

AFC NORTH:
Winner- Pittsburgh Steelers.
TK's take- This team didn't really suffer any losses this off season and still boast one of the most in your face defenses in the entire league. Big Ben has really come into his own and has the same weapons to throw to this year and with a defense like they have they don't have too score to many points to win games, not a bad situation to be in if you ask me. Look for them to win the AFC North pretty handily again this year.

AFC WEST:
Winner- San Diego Chargers
TK's take- This division is getting stronger but the other teams in this division are still a year or two away from challenging the Chargers. Rivers and LT are both going to have strong years this season and with Merriman returning to the Chargers Defense, look out Denver, KC and Oakland or joke land. The Chargers won't face any competition in the easiest division in football. They will run away with it.

AFC SOUTH:
Winner- Indianapolis Colts
TK's take- The Colts minus Marvin Harrison, that's weird to say, but never fear Manning still has Wayne to throw to. The defense might not be top notch but with Peyton Manning at the helm, I don't think the Colts have anything to worry about. Tennessee won't be as good as last year and Jacksonville hasn't made the proper steps to contend for a division title. Houston was .500 last year and I just don't see them shocking the league this year.

AFC WILD CARDS: MIAMI DOLPHINS (OF COURSE) AND BALTIMORE RAVENS

NFC CENTRAL:
Winner- Minnesota Vikings
TK's take- Take the best running back in football and give him Favre, and what do you get. Well the recipe either for disaster or success, and I just don't see how this combo can fail. While I dislike Favre, even more so after this recent cry baby back and forth with the Vikings, the guy doesn't need to be a superstar to help take this team to the playoffs and when they get there anything can happen.

NFC EAST:
Winner- Philadelphia Eagles
TK's take- McNabb and Vick on the field at the same time, that's something I'd pay to see. I think this team is going to shock a lot of people this year and dominate a lot of games. I think both players are ready to show what they are made of and let's not forget about Brian Westbrook, one of the most explosive players in the entire league with a defense whose ready to prove they are one of the best. Watch out for the Eagles this season folks!

NFC SOUTH:
Winner- Atlanta Falcons
TK's take- I love the Falcons and I think Matt Ryan only in his second year is going to be great yet again. He has Tony Gonzalez to throw to and I think this team is very dangerous. They are coached well and it's amazing to see how much can change in one year. I think the Falcons aren't a one year flash in the pan, they have a plan and look for it to further develop in year two for the newly rejuvenated Falcons.

NFC WEST:
Winner- Arizona Cardinals
TK's take- This division isn't tough and really it could go to anyone when you think about it. The Cardinals should be pretty consistent with last year's remarkable Super Bowl run and with the same core of talent as last year I think they can easily win this division again. San Fran is building while Seattle isn't going anywhere for the time being and New Orleans can still be good but they are just too inconsistent which is odd seeing they have Brees and Bush!

NFC WILD CARDS: Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers

TK'S PREDICTIONS:
AFC TITLE GAME: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS VS. PITTSBURGH STEELERS

NFC TITLE GAME: CAROLINA PANTHERS VS. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

SUPER BOWL MATCHUP: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS VS PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

SUPER BOWL CHAMPION: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (BRADY IS OUT FOR BLOOD!)

TK out, let the games begin!

TK first listen: Creed: Overcome!

Hey everybody, so for those who don't know I really enjoy the band Creed as I think they have some truly great rock songs and some amazing ballads. Higher, My Sacrifice, With Arms Wide Open are just to name a few of their many hits but while those songs are good, their latest one might just very well be their best. It's off their upcoming brand new album 'Full Circle' which hits shelves late October and the brand new single that was just recently released to radio is called 'Overcome.'

The song has a great message behind it, especially coming from lead singer Scott Stapp and the rhythm section and lead guitar is just in your face rock and roll. It's a terrific track and if it's any indication to how the new Creed album is going to sound, well sign me up, cause this song is awesome.

Don't believe me have a listen:
CREED- OVERCOME

I mean I'm hooked from the moment the song begins, it just has that in your face guitar riff and I can't stop listening to it.

TK reviews Inglorious Basterds

Well friends, it was one of those movies that I went into expecting some freaking violence and chaos and ultimately left the movies feeling a bit bummed out.

The film's cast first off is terrific in this movie as each character we are introduced to plays a vital role for the most part in the film's story, which of course takes two and a half hours to tell but we'll get to that later. The stars of the film of course are Brad Pitt and Eli Roth who ultimately steal every scene they are in. The two work well together and are quiet convincing as these soldiers and often throw some good one liners back and forth with eachother as well.

But where the two of them succeeds the film falls a bit short and here's why. For being as hyped as this movie was with a tagline stating- You haven't seen war until you've seen it through the eyes of Quentin Tarantino, the film lacks violence and the action I was craving to see.

Sure there are some scenes that live up to those expectations but the film just goes on and on and at times leaves you wanting to just leave yourself. There is too much dialogue in this movie and not enough action and it's kind of depressing. The film's plot just takes way too long to unfold and I think it could of been better condensed and we could of used more action thrown in at the same time.

Aside from Pitt who I think gives an incredible performance the movie just moves too slow for me and I think others will agree with me. Tarantino is hailed as a master film maker but I'm just not ultimately convinced.

The story and plot take too long to unfold and by the end you can almost predict how it's going to end. And that's not how I like my movies.

The story overall however is a good one but it could of been shorter.

TK's rating of Inglorious Basterds- 3/5 stars

TK reviews Nickelback's Dark Horse Tour

Hello everyone,

The morning after a concert is always fun. I'm still tired but that's to be expected after standing on my feet for 7 hours at work then an additional four at the show. But you people don't care about that, you people care about how rocking the show was.

First and foremost the weather was a bit uncooperative last night out at First Midwest Bank but luckily as Hinder/Nickelback took the stage the rain quieted down. But before that we had new rock group- Saving Abel take the stage. They got the crowd riled up pretty well and for being only 6:30 there was a decent size crowd already on hand. They played about five songs from their debut disc but two I only recognized including the closing song- Addicted To, which had the entire place up and singing.

Up next is a band who I think just rocks live, Papa Roach. The guys in PR tore through a set and played a lot of fan favorites including- Getting Away with Murder, Scars and of course Last Resort which closed out their set. These guys know how to rock and are very good at what they do.

Third was Hinder. Am a big fan of these guys but as for seeing them live, I'm not really sold. The guys can rock but the lead singing leaves something to be desired. He sounded great when the band blasted out Lips of an Angel which had the 19,000 plus size crowd singing along but on other tracks you couldn't really understand him too well and that was kind of a turn off. But other then that they mixed songs from their current album including Use Me with songs from their debut album including How Long and the closing rocker- Get Stoned.

Last but not least was Nickelback. I love this band and have never seen them headline a show, just open for Bon Jovi a couple of years ago. But now that they have their own headlining tour, the boys in Nickelback are proving they are all that and more. They blasted the opening song- Something in Your Mouth and went right into their countless of hits. They tore through Because of You, Figured You Out and Burn it to the Ground. They mixed rock with their slower stuff including terrific performances of Savin Me, Far Away, Photograph and an unreal performance of Rockstar.

The band even had Papa Roach and Hinder's lead singers come out for a jam session of AC/DC Highway to Hell which was freaking sweet! Nickelback defintely knows how to get an audience involved as frontman Chad Kroeger may have spent a little too much time talking last night instead of playing but the show still rocked. They also played If Today Was Your Last Day, Gotta Be Somebody and came out for two encores including Someday and of course Animals which was just surreal.

All in all one of the best shows I've seen this year and maybe for all time. Nickelback just has songs that mean something to me and it's so cool to hear them sung live. They sound terrific live and know how to play to a crowd. They brought pyro and fire and everything in between with them and know how to put on a good show.

TK's rating- 4/5 stars for the Dark Horse 2009 Tour

Ok so it's been a while, so time for some catchup with TK.

Hey everyone, as some of you have noticed and have let me known, my blog has been a bit dull lately and I apologize because well things in my life are going great and I've just been so busy at work lately as well.

First and foremost I've spent the last two plus weeks with my girlfriend before she went back to school which she just did a couple of days ago and I'm happy to report everything is great. She is the greatest girl in the whole wide world (lol cheesy but true.) I've never been happier in my 23 years of exsistence and can't wait to see what happens next. So my time was focused elsewhere so the blog did suffer but yeah it was worth it.

Secondly, I've been working nonstop at work lately as the cashier team is down to just myself and another. So in turn that means I'm currently working 6 days a week, yes six. It's stressful after a while but I keep telling myself about the money that I'm making so I'll treat myself to something nice soon (Guitar Hero 5 perhaps), I think so.

So yeah that's what's been going on here. Still got the radio show every Tuesday from 12pm-2pm, so keep on listening to that. Of course my blog will return to it's normal form once the fall shows get back into swing, as I'll be recapping Heroes, The Office and who knows what else.

Things are just going so great in my life right now, I can't stop smiling, no joke. So I figured I'd post a quick update before bed just to let all you guys know what is going on. Thanks for checking the blog and I promise to post new things as they happen.

Night, TK.

A night out with friends you'll just never forget..

A Great Night out with two great hilarious friends...

So everyone has traditions and for me I have one that is near the top my list of traditions. The one I'm referring to here is the one where myself, Emily and Shannon hang out for a couple of hours and just catch up and hang out. The three of us became pretty close at Lewis and after graduation we all wanted to make sure we hung out occasionally and have kept that promise alive and well.

Whenever the three of us get together it's a few hours of just non stop laughs and reminiscing about the old times we had at Lewis and from other visits, and I wouldn't trade those moments/memories for a second. So the three of us went to T.G.I. Friday's a few weeks ago and decided that we need to hang out sooner rather then later because time between our last visits was much to long. So the three of us collectively brainstormed and came up with a fantastic (Shannon's word) idea. We mentioned the idea of going to the movies so we ultimately decided to go to Hollywood Blvd. Shannon and I have never been there, while Emily had once, so we figured, what a terrific idea.

So of course it wouldn't be an adventure somewhere without a great car ride featuring myself and Shannon. For those who don't know Shannon she is quite a loud and very funny individual who can make me laugh like no one else, and I mean that. (Just ask her to do a certain voice!) So we set out to find Hollywood Blvd and of course the two of us aren't very good with directions so it's always a journey no matter where we head out too.

Surprisingly we found the place with ease and got there in like record time, only took us just over 30 minutes, so that was nice. So of course we arrived a bit early and had to figure out what to do with our time. So of course we just start telling old stories and Shannon breaks into some random voice/video from Youtube and I nearly pissed my pants cause I was laughing so hard. Then a damn bee flew into my car and the two of us over reacted just a bit, seeing that it was kind of small but that's neither here nor there.

So after Emily arrived we all went inside and the place looks small for a theater but it packs a lot of people in and screens a lot of shows. And the best part of the whole experience aside from the people was the fact that we got to order food and they served alcohol at the movies! It's still kind of weird to see people ordering food and beer during a movie, but awesome at the same time. So yes we got the food and it was rather tasty and of course it was just a good time from here on out.

After the whole experience had come and gone we got to thinking we need to take some pictures of the three of us because we don't have a single one of us as a group. What happened next stole the night as we asked a random person to take a picture of us and at first they kind of looked at us weird and didn't help us but then some kid came over and took a picture. So he did and what made the picture is the fact that Shannon is attempting to do like a Captain Morgan type pose as she has her leg twisted to the side.

She looks at the picture and like runs to the window and is hunching over laughing so loud it's so awesome, and Emily and I are just looking at one another laughing and thinking 'good lord.' Then of course after the laughter subsided the three of us took some more pictures by the car as I couldn't get the three of us in one single shot and it was really starting to drive me crazy. So after a few attempts, like the one pictured below, Shannon tried and of course she couldn't either, but it was in the attempts that we just found more laughter.

The moral of our adventures and times together is that these two girls are two of my dear friends and we just have an unbelievable time together. We can make each other laugh like it's our job and the times are just instant classics and make for good stories down the road. I look forward to our next trip together because God only knows what's going to happen then! And oh yes, Emily managed to get a picture of the three of us that ultimately just sums up the night. Good times!

MMMMM alrightttt!

Bloom passing on Pirates 4

So was reading a little scoop on some movie news and am sad to report that Orlando Bloom will reportedly not be in Pirates 4. He apparently doesn't want to continue his character because he feels that his characters role was tied up nicely in the last Pirates film.

Hard to blame the guy because he gets to spend more time with his girlfriend Miranda Kerr, and can you honestly blame him? No, no you can't because she is smoking hot!

Well, sorry I havent had any new posts this week, it's been very hectic for me lately, so talk to you guys later.

I don't feel like sleeping so let's blog..

Well in case you couldn't tell by the headline, I just am not tired and am not ready to call it a night quite yet. I tried watching a movie to relax but that didn't help... I don't know what it is I just don't feel tired. Could be the fact that I have a million different things going through my mind right now. Ok, probably not a million but I have quite a few things that I keep thinking about over and over again.

But all in all it's been just a relaxing past few days as I have been battling this stupid cough/sore throat for like a week, but the worst is behind I think as I woke up this morning and felt pretty good, so hopefully it's even better in the morning. Got to see some of my old Lewis buddies this past Friday at Hooters and it was a real nice outing. Just feels good to catch up with people you haven't seen in forever and talk about old college stories and catch up on how things are in the here and now. Although it's not good to hear some friends bash the current state of The Office but I'll forgive them lol.

The weekend was a relaxing one as well. Watched Iron Man on Blu-Ray with my dad and we had the sound freaking cranked up, sounds amazing, and of course made me even more excited for Iron Man 2. Found out that I'm going to the YANKEES/White Sox game this Friday with a few of my buddies, one of whom I haven't hung out with in forever and I feel bad about that. But regardless the game is going to be a great time and let's hope my Yankees win it.

Finally went fishing again today as Julie and I went and we tried a different spot and that was quite relaxing, didn't catch shit, but we saw a bunch of cute little baby turtles just swimming around pretty close to land, so that was fun to watch. Then after we went to get Slurpees, and that was like my first Slurpee in at least a year and it was amazing, need to start getting those more.

Haven't had the chance to go on one of my walks in like a week because I haven't been feeling good lately, so I'm hoping to go tomorrow after work because it's been like a week since my last one and God knows I need to get back out there, hell I should rollerblade, so we might do that.

My radio show is back Tuesday and I can't wait because it's been two weeks since our last show and I know that our fans miss us and we miss them, so that will be nice to hear again this Tuesday during a special three hour show airing 12pm-3pm on 88.1 FM WLRA The Start or online at www.lewisu.edu/wlra

So that's what is new here in my life, hope you all are doing well. Where is the warm weather at also, I would like to visit my pool again soon.

Now it's time for bed, so night everyone!

Now let me remind you all of the craziness that is Shannon, Emily and I know this to be very true and while we love her to death, her craziness is just awesome lol totally kidding Shannon. So Emily and I really look forward to seeing you soon!

P.S. Emily you drive with her this time even if it's raining out.

Big day tomorrow

As I'm sitting here watching America's Got Talent, just had to say how excited I am for tomorrow to hang with some friends, drink a few beers, and by a few I mean a lot, and go see 10 yes 10 bands tomorrow at CRUE FEST 2: WHITE TRASH CIRCUS.

If that name doesn't get you excited, I don't know what will, so for those who will be there tomorrow I'll be in the lawn, so come visit and we'll have a beer.

I just don't feel like myself lately...

Why is it that I'm sitting in my room right now watching a particular episode of Family Guy that I've seen a million times? My life has become a routine and it's really getting to me lately and I can't take much more of it. After working 5 days in a row (I had today off) it all just rushed at me and I think I might of had a mini melt down.

Friends and work right now have caused me some problems as of late and I just can't seem to take it much longer. I've been at my present job now for almost 9 months now and have made some new great friends there. One in particular I have become very close to and can tell her anything and I love her for that. It's really refreshing to have a new group of friends who share similar interests that I do. Our weekly thursday night bowling has become my favorite thing to do because we all have so much fun out together.

With some other friends I just don't know. I'm sick and tired of how certain people act and was really hoping their ways would change as they got older but apparently I was mistaken. I love when I ask questions and don't get answers.. I mean that it is cool right... no it is not! I'm sick and tired of being told how to act as well. You know I like the person I am and if others don't well then too damn bad. I'm not going to pretend I'm someone I'm not in order to gain the approval of others, sorry that's not how I was raised or who I am.

Well you know what I'm sick of it. I've been the 'nice guy' for all my life and ultimately what has it gotten me?

The more and more I think about it, I can't find an answer for that question. You know I've gone my whole life being nice and putting others first but lately it doesn't seem others are willing to do the same for me and I'm tired of trying.

Whether it's time for a new change of scenery or what I'm not sure but things in my life need to improve and while I fully realize it won't happen immediately I need to do something to fix it.

Thank goodness I have this blog to vent my anger and unhappiness otherwise I would go crazy.

So yeah, while this isn't my usual style of posting or topic, it had to be let out. So to those who read it, thanks.

TK concert review: Def Leppard, Poison and Cheap Trick

Well mother nature wasn't about to slow down myself and the thousands who jammed into First Midwest Bank Ampihitheatre to see some of rock's biggest acts and as Queen says, 'The Show Must Go On.'

As the clouds and rain let up just minutes before the show started you knew it was going to be a good night and it was. While I didn't catch all of the opening act- Cheap Trick I managed to catch the last three or so songs and got to hear their closing number- Surrender, which is of course a rock anthem and the boys in Cheap Trick are still rocking it in 2009, let me tell you. They certainly surprised me in how good they were live.

Up next was Poison. Yes the bad boys of rock, well a few of them anyway are still tearing it up on stage. And for those who question my love of Poison, I have liked this band long before Bret Michaels became even more famous for doing Rock of Love, so on with the review. Poison hit the stage running and jammed out of all their hits. They played Unskinny Bop, Talk Dirty to Me and a tribute to our men and women in uniform, Something to Believe In, which was awesome. Of course they played Every Rose Has It's Thorn and their closing number had the whole place a rocking, Ain't Nothin But a Good Time.

It's good to see how these guys play on stage. CC Deville is a truly amazing guitar player live and Bret Michael's still sounds pretty good live. The whole band just knows how to jam and that they did and I think all would agree they stole the show, at least in my opinion they did.

Def Leppard was last to take the stage and they certainly came out to play the hits. They launched into Armageddon It, Satellite of Love, Hysteria, Photograph and even threw in two acoustic versions of Bringin on the Heartbreak and Two Steps Behind which were absolutely amazing. Sad that they weren't the regular versions but it is nice to hear two great songs in a whole new light.

They played Rock On, C'Mon C'Mon from their most recent CD and of course had every person in attendance rocking when they played Rock of Ages and Pour Some Sugar on Me. The British boys came out with my all time favorite Def Lep song by asking us all one question. 'Do you wanna get rocked' as they launched into the closing Let's Get Rocked.

As the years have continued to come and go it is a bit obvious that Joe Elliot, the lead singer of the group can not hit the high notes anymore but that really doesn't slow down the band, because for the band itself, they sure do know how to rock still and it shows.

TK side note-
Has anyone else noticed that First Midwest Bank Ampihitheatre isn't as loud as they used to be. It is two shows in a row where I have noticed that it isn't that loud, and for being at a rock show I expect to leave there with my ears ringing and that hasn't happened yet, but with Crue Fest 2 this Wednesday I better be deaf leaving.

DEF LEPPARD/POISON/CHEAP TRICK gets a 4.5/5 ratings

TK reviews Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

TK reviews Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Finally, and I mean finally the magical world of Hogwarts and company has made its way back into our lives. It's been since summer of 2007 since we've last seen Harry, Ron and Hermione and things at Hogwarts and with them have changed. We now flash forward to year 6 at Hogwarts and the dark forces are starting to take control.

This movie interestingly was given a PG rating while the previous installments were given PG-13 ratings, but lets get on with the show.

Dumbledore and Harry are shown at the beginning of the film being photographed after an epic battle with Lord Voldemort at the Ministry of Magic and Dumbledore's hand is now black after being weakened partially due to the battle. Together Harry and Dumbledore set out to find an old friend by the name of Horace Slughorn, an old potions teacher, who Dumbledore needs for more then just his teachings!

They find him and we discover that the dark lord and other death eaters have been trying to recruit his services but has refused to take such part. We discover that Slughorn is very envious of collecting his best students and adding him to his shelf. So as Dumbledore essentially dangles Harry in front of Slughorn to tempt him to come back, Slughorn can't resist and ultimately comes back to Hogwarts with them.

Back to the Weasley house we go and the gang is all waiting for Harry to arrive. Ron and Hermione of course are anxious to see their best friend but it is the all grown up and quite stunning Ginny Weasley who is most anxious for Harry to arrive. Harry arrives at the Weasley's house and together they all catch up.

But things in their world aren't always what they seem. Bellatrix and Narcissa (Draco Malfoy's mother) have shown up on Snape's door in order to seek his help. We are informed that Draco has become a death eater and that Voldemort has given him a task to accomplish this year at Hogwarts. Bellatrix isn't convinced that Snape is loyal to the Dark Lord and requests that he and Narcissa make the unbreakable vow. So Snape is sworn into keeping Draco safe from harm, helping him fulfill his task and if necessary carrying the task out himself.

Back at school, love/lust is in the hallways at Hogwarts as romances are starting to take shape everywhere and often. Ginny is in a relationship that ultimately upsets Ron and Harry but in a much more settle way. Ron who becomes Gryffindor's new keeper has found a new fame in popularity and attracts a girl named Lavender Brown, who becomes infatuated with Ron. Well of course Hermione doesn't take well to this and is visibly shaken up because of her true feelings for Ron.

This film excels at diving deeper into relationships that our main characters have, most notably to me the relationship between Hermione and Harry. They are best friends and the talks they have in this movie and the things they share with one another are quite moving and touching and they really do become better friends during the movie.

Harry who has now taken up the potions class that Slughorn teaches, due to Dumbledore's order to get closer to Slughorn comes across an old potions book that once belonged to the Half-Blood prince. In the book are tips and secrets that allow Harry to thrive in the class and easily become Slughorn's most prized student. So as the year moves on Harry and Slughorn begin to start to form a tight bond and it is because Harry seeks a memory that Slughorn has in his mind.
After an attack on Draco that left him hurt, Harry is forced to hide the book and is taken by Ginny to hide it. She tells him to close his eyes and she hides the book so that he is not tempted and it is there where we get our first kiss between Ginny and Harry and the start of a let's say long life together, perhaps?

Harry and Dumbledore after uncovering a secret memory from Professor Slughorn must now set out to discover the Horcrux's that Voldemort left behind. These 7 Horcrux's contain pieces of his soul and if they are all destroyed would lead to the destruction of Voldemort himself. So the two of them come across one but it is guarded by a mysterious liquid that Dumbledore is forced to drink but ultimately poisons him at the same time. They recover the Horcrux but not before Dumbledore is greatly weakened.

Upon returning to Hogwarts, Draco is waiting for Dumbledore and we learn that Draco is to kill the headmaster. Draco who throughout the movies has proven to be nothing more then a coward holds true to form and can't do it. It is then when Snape and Bellatrix along with some other death eaters show up and it is there where Dumbledore speaks, 'Severus please!' SPOILER ALERT!!!

Snape with Harry watching below speaks the killing curse and kills Dumbledore. Harry immediately chases after them and tries to attack Snape but he just bats away Harry's attacks and when Harry tries to use a spell from his potions book, we discover that it is Snape who is the Half-Blood prince.

The movie ends with Harry, Ron and Hermione talking about what is next for them and we find out that the three of them won't be coming back to Hogwarts next year but instead going after the remaining Horcrux's and to finish what Dumbledore started, no matter what it takes.

TK side note:

This movie for me has it all. I love how the film works around the budding romances the characters are finding themselves in and at the same time the evil they are forced to now confront and take on. This film is so laugh out loud funny as well you just get lost in the film and that is what I did, I got lost in it. It is an excellent film that is full of charm, love and sadness and with Harry Potter that is quite alright with me.

TK's rating- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood prince gets a 5/5 rating!

Best Harry Potter yet! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 opens November 2010.

TK reviews Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd Rock and Rebels Tour 2009

Well kids finally yours truly got to see and experience the all mighty power of the southern rock legends, Lynyrd Skynyrd. And yes their was Kid Rock also but lets start with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legends.

Lynyrd Skynyrd was the night's opening act and they dove right into all of their classics. They played Gimme 3 Steps, That Smell, Sweet Home Alabama, Call me the Breeze, and of course FREEBIRD!

I felt like a little kid again getting to hear this song for the first time because oh yeah it was truly orgasmic, yes orgasmic. Their is nothing like the power of Freebird my friends and the boys delivered. They sounded very good and on point and it was truly a weird feeling to see them live and here's why. The band which has suffered tragedy during it's prime hay day is survived by some old members and some of newer ones who have filled in over the years.

But to hear some of these songs in today's age is truly an experience for the ages. Hearing Freebird live is something everyone needs to experience at least once in their life because it is one of those songs that just is amazing. Major kudos to the boys in Skynyrd for knowing how to still put on a killer rock and roll show.

Kid Rock I have to admit knows how to give credit where credit is due. He pays so much tribute to those who have came before him and incorporates that into his show. He knows that without those guys he wouldn't of become what he is today and that's a great entertainer. He knows how to put on a good rock and roll show and his job last night was well received by the audience at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheater and he even had a surprise guest come on stage as well.

During his song Picture, the one and only Sheryl Crow joined Kid on stage for a great duet of that song. One of my favorites it was a real treat to have it sung by the two who made the song a true classic in my opinion. It is a song full of emotion and those are the ones I love best. But of course this is a rock and roll show and he belted out some of his big rock hits including, Rock and Roll Jesus, Amen, All Summer Long, Cowboy and of course Bawitdaba. He just unleashed his inner rock god on those songs and the performances were amazing.

I don't know if its just me but the sound system last night wasn't as loud as I was expecting so that was the only disappointing part but the show itself was tremendous. Skynyrd and Kid Rock are true professional and classy rock acts and it was a true treat for any rock and roll fan.

Rock and Rebels Tour 2009- 4/5 stars

TK reviews 'Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs'

TK reviews 'Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs'

You're never too old to go see a kid's movie, at least that's my thinking anyways. After loving, yes loving the first two films in the Ice Age franchise, I figured there was no way I was missing out on the third film entitled: Ice Age 3 aka Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

The original ensemble including Ray Romano as Manny, Denis Leary as Diego and of course John Leguizamo as everyone's favorite sloth Sid were all back for thirds in this film. Queen Latifah was also back as Ellie, and the two possums were back as well, so the gang is all here. But all things considered Ice Age 3 is a pretty solid movie but not as good as the first two were.

In the film our strange herd are all facing separate and difficult life changes. Manny and Ellie are expecting a baby while Diego feels he is losing touch with his inner self and feels like it is time for him to move on and to fulfill his own life's calling. Sid, well he is Sid and is annoying anything that comes in his path and wants to become a father very badly.

Sid being as bright as he is, just kidding of course, accidentally falls through a patch of ice and discovers three mysterious eggs buried deep beneath the snow and ice. Well being the guy that Sid is he takes the three eggs back with him and ultimately decides that he is now the eggs mother and will look after them. Well Manny and Ellie warn Sid that this is a bad idea and that he should return the eggs back immediately because they know someone is going to be out looking for their missing eggs.

Well Sid of course doesn't return the eggs and then a few days later they hatch and sure enough, yep, they are three baby dinosaurs. Sid of course falls in love with them and them with him but things go crazy when the mama dinosaur comes looking and she isn't happy. She finds them and Sid and carries them all back to their world and it is up to Manny and Ellie to save Sid from a certain death that awaits him.

The story of their journey is very challenging to everyone because Manny is worried about his new baby and Ellie around every turn and must protect them because they just went from being the biggest things on Earth to the smallest creatures in the world of the dinosaurs. They are guided by Buck who is a creature of great mystery and adventure and leads them on a journey that takes them deep into a new mysterious world.

The humor in the film is plenty and still is for kids and adults of all ages. Sid and Buck provide most of the film's humor but it is the story of compassion that I really seemed to enjoy the most because Manny has gone through so much in these films and to see him become a father is something quite special to watch. Together they all must fight off dinosaurs of all sizes to rescue Sid and with Diego returning to help out the herd is at full strength.

The movie does a good job at telling this story and wraps up the three films pretty well and while it doesn't set up a potential fourth film in the series, you wouldn't mind seeing one now that we have some new characters to possibly explore further with either.

Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs gets a 3.5/5

Some green movie news...

Sorry for the dumb title, but I promise this news is exciting, well at least for me. Ryan Reynolds yes the Ryan Reynolds has been hired to star in The Green Lantern. I think this is very exciting news because the dude has shown he can play a pretty kick ass hero/bad guy and I think he should do very well for himself in this movie and it will be interesting to see how he can compare to the recent big superhero/actor combos such as Bale/Batman, Routh/Superman.

The film is being directed I want to say by the man who directed Casino Royale so the film should be surrounded by people who know how to make a good product. Filming is set to begin in Jan 2010 with a Summer release scheduled for 2011.

So don't screw up Ryan Reynolds, but yeah can't wait to see him as the Green Lantern.

TK reviews Brad Paisley's 'American Saturday Night' Album

Well ladies and gents, it's time for another classic album review brought to you by yours truly and this time it comes courtesy of country guitar God, Mr. Brad Paisley. His 8th studio album continues to solidify his status as one of country's biggest superstars and his style definitely comes through on all of the albums tracks.

The album mixes some great traditional Brad Paisley guitar riffs and incorporates some of the softer songs that he is famous for. Most notably and in my opinion the best song on the album is the first single from the record, the number one smash hit, 'Then.' The ballad is just a great song and it's message is just so true and clear and it's something that anyone can say they relate to or have experienced.

Other jams on this album include- 'Welcome to the Future,' 'American Saturday Night,' 'Water' and one of the most catchiest songs I've heard in recent memory- 'Catch all the fish' that will surely have concert goers everywhere singing this summer, when he takes the 'American Saturday Night' tour across the states.

But for fans of the softer songs, Brad has got those on here as well, and man does he know how to write great songs with an ever better message. 'Everybody's Here,' the song about Mrs. Paisley, 'She's Her Own Woman,' and the great song about his first song called 'Anything Like Me' are all down to earth songs that have terrific messages and you can tell are very personal to Brad.

The album doesn't have a bad song on it and the flow and mixture of the way the songs are arranged on the album keep you rocking the whole time. 'American Saturday Night' is everything a fan of BP has come to expect. His style and signature guitar playing is featured on almost every track and it all just works very well.

I know I can't wait to see him for the first time this August when he rolls into town with Dierks Bentley and Jimmy Wayne for the good ol fashioned 'American Saturday Night Tour.'

Brad Paisley's American Saturday Night Album rating- 4/5 stars

It's back ladies and gents... a TK RANT...

So I was just flipping through the channels and came across Showbiz tonight and they were airing an interview from Peter King NY Congressman who just totally verbally bashes him. Are you kidding me here sir? He calls him a child molester, a pervert and says the world doesn't need to devote it's attention to him. Sir, I don't know who you are but you need to shut the hell up.

I understand we all have our right to free speech but this man is ridiculous. The man is a musical genius and this is how he should be remembered by, and for you some arrogant jackass to come out and say this, is completely out of line. The world should care about the work of Michael Jackson and while I fully understand that there are bigger issues we should be concerned with, the world doesn't always have to be so serious, because let's face it, we're not.

There comes a time in all of our lives where an icon of the entertainment industry will pass away and Michael Jackson was an icon and for this man to come out and call him these labels is just utterly pathetic and disrespectful. So to you Peter King, why don't you shut your mouth and let the country remember one of it's greatest if not it's greatest single entertainer any of us have ever seen.

TK reviews 'Public Enemies'

TK's Review of Public Enemies

Well there comes a role in an actor's career that they will be remembered for ever by and for the already legendary Johnny Depp who has touched the hearts of millions worldwide, his performance as legendary bank robber, John Dillinger, might go down in history. Depp plays Dillinger to perfection. His mannerisms and the way he dives into the character really come across on screen and it's mesmerizing to watch as a spectator.

Depp's performance drives the movie and you really become attached to this man who wanted to live life like it was his last day and he wasn't afraid to get what he wanted, no matter what stood in his way. Dillinger was an American Hero back in the latter years of the Great Depression and that is exactly how he is portrayed by Depp in the film 'Public Enemies.'

Agent Melvin Purvis, played by Christian Bale is just an additional treat in the film. He is appointed as lead agent at the Bureau of Investigation whose sole priority is to track down public enemy one- John Dillinger. Purvis' character is a very dynamic one who goes through a lot of turmoil in the movie. Just when he thinks he is able to pin point Dillinger, he is always outsmarted and left wondering how he got past his fingertips.

While Depp and Bale do only share one scene on camera together in this near two and a half hour long movie, it still will give you chills. These are two of the most iconic actors in Hollywood right now and the scene they share in the film is a classic. Dillinger questions Purvis what keeps him awake at night and when it's Purvis turn to ask Dillinger, Dillinger calmy replies, 'Coffee.'

The action in this movie is classic/vintage gangster if you want my honest opinion and it's not elaborately drawn out either. It's simple just like I'm sure it was back then. Cool machine guns, plenty of hand guns and of course cool fast cars to plan your escape in. The costumes and scenery also need to be pointed out because they looked absolutely vintage as well. They really give you the feeling that you're standing right alongside Dillinger and his crew as they are about to break into the bank.

Marion Cotillard is sensational as Dillinger's girl, Billie. She is dynamic and mesmerizing in her very own right as the girl who captures Dillinger's heart. Every scene she is in is compelling and none more so then when she is being interrogated by the Chicago Police. It left me feeling chills after seeing the scene because she is going through such hell and torment to protect the man she loves.

The ultimate struggle that the Bureau go through just to capture John is fascinating. He is always one step ahead of them and the escapes are quite amusing to watch and the way he does it will have you chuckling a few times. The movie might feel a little long at times but it doesn't take away anything from the message of the film.

Depp has cemented himself in my eyes as the world's greatest actor alive and this performance will hopefully earn him some Oscar recognition home next year. Depp and Bale along with Cotillard show that good actors put in the right film can lead to a modern day classic, and I truly believe that is what 'Public Enemies' is and will become. The tale of how one man compelled the nation and how he lived life with no regrets and no fear has kind of gone by the wayside in a troubling culture like today's.

This movie offers us something refreshing and classic to fall in love with. It's not everyday you go to the movies and end up routing for the bad guy to come out on top right? 'Public Enemies' is a film that everyone should at least check out once because it's film making at it's best. Michael Mann the director laid out the story perfectly and his actors did the rest. Dillinger will always be remembered for doing what he wanted when he wanted. “I like baseball, movies, fast cars, whiskey and you. What else do you need to know?”

TK's rating of 'Public Enemies'- 4.5/5 stars
