American Idol: Top 8
Well I had a good recap last week friends, as I predicted two of the three bottom three and correctly predicted that Megan Joy was going to go home. So lets continue the winning streak with this week's recap.
Theme this week: songs from the year the contestants were born!
How awesome was Simon's baby pictures and doesn't Seacrest look like a tool even as a toddler?
So on with this week's performances shall we...
-Danny Gokey, sings Stand by Me.
Recap: I just like the guy, what else can I say. He has been my favorite since the beginning and puts his own spin on the song tonight. I could listen to an entire CD of his right now, so I think he does a great job tonight, and I like how he arranges the song as well. Good way to start off the show!
Judges: Randy loves it, says he's got the talent, Kara says he kills it, made it his own, Paula says wow and last is Simon who says overall great.
TK's take: Coasts into the final 7 and is safe from elimination.
-Kris Allen, sings All She Wants to do is Dance.
Recap: Took me a second to figure out what song this was. Does a good job with the song this week, but I don't think it's nearly as good as last week's performance, but you know. He does sing the song very well, which is the name of the show, so more then likely will be alright come elimination time, or not.
Judges: Kara isn't very happy with it, thinks it's too old, Paula says he changes it up, Simon calls it indulgent, boring and forgettable. Someone yells you're hot to Kris, and Simon goes so am I, that was funny. Randy agrees with Simon on this one.
TK's take: Well I think he's on the borderline, so lets stay tuned till the end of the recap.
-Lil Rounds, sings What's Love Got to do With It?
Recap: I'm staring to lose interest in her big time. It starts off as like a sound a like for me. She is so up and down each week and this week I think she comes up short, and doesn't do anything to justify her supposed big voice, I've heard better from Lil.
Judges: Paula rambles, the gist of it is, she is worried, calls it a karaoke version, Simon calls it a second or third rate version of it, like I just said ha, Randy calls her talented but agrees with Paula and Simon.
TK's take: She has been on the fence the last couple of weeks, but sorry Lil is in the bottom three this week.
-Anoop Desai, hate him now because he likes UNC, sings True Colors.
Recap: This is actually not bad, thought it was going to be odd for him to sing a Cyndi Lauper song, but that's Idol. It's not like mind blowing or anything this week but he does a decent enough job with it, although I'm not sure if it's going to make him safe from the bottom three.
Judges: Randy enjoys it calls it a nice vocal, Kara praises him, Paula says it was very good and Simon calls him the singing yo-yo, as he is up and down.
TK's take: Is also on the fence but I think it's too early to call, stay tuned.
-Scott McIntyre, sings The Search is Over.
Recap: Has a guitar this week, not a piano, so that was interesting. I think his voice sounds good this week and like the fact that he doesn't do the whole piano thing. I think it is one of his better performances over the last couple of weeks, does a great job, on a song I don't know.
Judges: Kara says its just alright, Paula has mixed feelings as well, Simon suggests going back to the piano, and Randy says its just ok.
TK's take: Well the judges don't think too highly, and I don't think America will either, Scott is headed to the bottom three.
-Allison Iraheta, sings I Can't Make You Love Me.
Recap: After somehow somehow being placed in the bottom three last week which was a joke, Allison this week rebounds, although last week I enjoyed her, but what do I know? This is a big vocal song but I think she handles it pretty well, is a little bit rough at times, but mostly she does have another solid performance.
Judges: Paula enjoys it, but of course she does, Simon says it's very good, questions her personality, Randy compares to Kelly Clarkson, and Kara calls it young and just plain talented.
TK's take: Safe and into the final 7.
-Matt Giraud, sings Part Time Lovers.
Recap: Ah yes the JT wanna be. I like the song but not really his version. It's no Stevie Wonder and I just don't think it's the right song for him to sing, he could of done something better in my opinion. Voice and song are not on par here for Matt, sorry. Paula is dancing the whole time so you know she likes it.
Judges: Judges all love it, so I don't get it.
TK's take: Safe and into the final 7.
-Adam Lambert, sings Mad World.
Recap: It is very laid back and I kind of like it. Don't recognize the song, but I do enjoy his take on it. He just continues to nail it each week and hasn't had a bad performance yet, come to think of it. Shows he can slow it all down and still makes it fun to watch and easy to listen to, which I like.
Judges: Simon gives him a standing ovation, holy hell.
TK's take: Safe yet again, and into the top 7.
TK's Best of the Night: Adam without a doubt, was a great job.
TK's Worst of the Night: Lil Rounds
Bottom Three:
-Lil Rounds
-Scott McIntyre
-Kris Allen
Kris is first one sent back to safety, and that leaves Scott and Lil in our final two. In the end I think it's so close too call but it's going to be Scott who goes home this week. And once again the judges save isnt used.
Why does Idol run late all the time by the way? Only 8 minutes this week.
TK out!
