'Heroes' Say Goodnight Alice
Ah the first family of drama television, the Petrelli's. There is always some sort of drama going on and tonight well it was taken to the next level. Tonight's episode entitled, '1961' gave us a glimpse into the childhood of Angela and her younger sister Alice.
I thought the episode was quite superb and very well laid out. After we were teased last week I was very curious to know what this Coyote Sands place was because you knew it had to be more then just a relaxing weekend getaway. Coyote Sands as we find out was a place where people with abilities were taken too. This was before any company even was formed and really before anyone knew how to control powers or how to understand what this all meant.
The movement was led by Minder's father, Dr. Suresh. He took on the responsibility to help these people even though they really didn't ask for it. We slowly but surely discover that things aren't right at this place thanks to the nightmares courtesy of Angela. What also comes as a bit of a shock is that Alice herself also has an ability. And sure enough she has the power to control the weather, which is very cool.
She is a very worrisome little girl and finds great comfort in her older sister. After dreaming about bad things, Angela along with the younger Charles, Bob Bishop and Linderman, decide to run away and form 'The Company,' due to what Angela envisions. But the only draw back and what comes with a high price to Angela, is that she must leave her younger sister behind for fear of the dangerous road ahead. Angela lies to her sister saying she had a dream and in the dream she would be protected if she stayed at the camp, and that she would be back to get her later on, knowing she was never coming back.
So as the four are sitting at a local diner, a severe storm warning is flashed across the news and knowing who is responsible Angela wants to run back to Alice, but the others stop her, saying it's too dangerous. Fearing that Alice along with everyone has passed the four move on and carry on Angela's dream.
Back in present time, we find that Nathan and Peter are trying to reconcile with one another and get the family back on track. After weeks and weeks of arguing and even fighting the two seem to be back on the same page. We also find Claire sinking back into wanting to be a kid again and not all grown up. We see that she and Noah want to reconcile their differences as well and that the Petrelli family along with Noah seem to becoming just that, a family again.
It is then when Angela and the rest of us are introduced to the very alive Alice who has been staying here for 50 years solely on the promise that her older sister made to her, that it would be safe there. Alice is very happy to see her older sister again but things go horribly wrong when Angela informs her that night she left she lied to Alice in order to protect her. This only angers her and thus she creates a giant storm and even shocks Mohinder with lighting knocking him out.
Alice runs away and Angela runs after her but the search goes no where, as she has disappeared, to where we don't know. I kind of hope we get to see her again, because I think she can play some sort of role in all of this.
The episode concludes with the newly found family eating at the very same diner as the original company did all those years ago. Peter wants to kind of understand the new message and point behind this new company and what it's plans are. Nathan plans on going to Washington to fix this mess, cue the television where we see Nathan giving a press conference, aka Sylar has taken on the shape of the congressman.
All in all, a very sound episode of Heroes. The show is getting back on track and with only two episodes left I can't wait till next Monday, because let's face it, I need a Sylar fix, he's the best baddie on television and I just want to see how this show unfolds.
