TK's quick take on 'Parks and Recreation'

Well that was interesting. I have always liked Amy Poehler during her time on Saturday Night Live and even in recent films like, 'Baby Mama' and 'Blades of Glory' but on this show, not so much. After watching the pilot episode I'm a little skeptical on whether or not this show has what it takes to make it.

It stems from the creators of my beloved 'Office' but it doesn't even come close. The thing that makes 'The Office' work so well are it's lead and supporting characters and aside from Poehler in the show, there is really nothing substantial to build on. Granted, I understand that it is just one show and it will take time to get to know them, but these people seemed very boring. The guy with the bobby knight style office was alright and Rashida Jones character barely said anything and when she did it wasn't funny.

Now while I'm going to watch it again next week just to see if it picks up, I don't think this show is going to get a second season pickup, unless something drastic happens. It takes over the time slot for Kath and Kim which was absolutely terrible and follows a ratings slug in My Name is Earl, which why is that show on the air in the first place? I'm sorry but I think the six episode run is all this show is going to get because quite frankily the show doesn't seem to really have a clear story arc.

I mean just how far can we expect funny material on a government group that deals with Parks and Recreation? Sorry Amy, but you might of left SNL a bit too early.
