TK's 'Top Comedies Since I've Been Alive' Numbers 8 and 7

Now I bet most of you were quite surprised to see that the great and powerful 'National Lampoons Christmas Vacation' clocked in at number 10 on the countdown right? Well for good reason, the next two and from here on out are just plain funnier. I've had a hard time putting this countdown in the right and fitting order but I've think I've arrived at a very well put together list.

But with numbers 10 and 9 out of the way it's onto bigger and better things. So to do a quick recap, we all know that 10 was 'National Lampoons Christmas Vacation' and number 9 was 'Role Models.'

So what are numbers 8 and 7, well without further a due, I proudly present number 8 on TK's Top 10 Comedies Since I've Been Alive (1986.)

Number 8- 40 Year Old Virgin (Year Released- 2005)
The movie that really put Steve Carell into the public spotlight. Of course we can't forget his memorable role in 'Anchorman' but this movie shot him to the top. This movie is jammed packed with laughs and actually tells a pretty interesting story as well, something comedies can kind of slip up on these days. This movie keeps me laughing every time I watch it and how can it not?
In addition to Carell the movie boasts Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks and Catherine Keener. The group of buddies is what the movie thrives upon and their quest to de-flower Andy throughout the movie is priceless, not to mention their jokes they tell to each other.

From all the strange encounters he comes across during his quest including the big box of porn, it's just all too good. The memorable lines that we all quote now, “your friend is so shiny, oh where's your friend going?” And how can we forget, “Do you wanna know how I know you're gay? Because you like Coldplay.” This movie will stand the test of time as being just plain awesome. The way all the characters intertwine with one another is so well done the movie just flows and keeps you laughing the entire time, there really isn't one dry spot in the movie.

'40 Year Old Virgin' earns the eight spot on my countdown for being just original and very simple. The movie stays true to it's story and offers up some of the funniest characters that people have seen in a long time, and I applaud you Carell and company, well done.

Number 7- Ace Ventura (Year Released- 1994)
“Well excuse me, I'd like to ass you a few questions?” Yeah that's pretty much the line and the scene that made me fell in love with this movie. I mean is there any funnier Jim Carrey movie out there? (Well maybe later in the countdown?) 'Ace Ventura' was really like one of the first kinds of comedies I can remember seeing where I was just blown away. No one had really ever seen anything like that before and it was just so laugh out loud funny it hurt. Carrey is a comedic genius and still is producing the hits today, most recently 'Yes Man!'

But I'm here to reflect on 'Ace Ventura.' I mean from Courtney Cox to Lois Einhorn, what didn't this movie have, oh and throw in Dan Marino and the Miami Dolphins and you have a classic, enough said. Sorry, had to mention my boy and my team. The movie thrives on Carrey's willingness to take it to the next level and does so in so many scenes, too many to even list here. When he rescues the ladies dog and she asks, “would you like me to take your pants off instead?” Oh and his interaction with animals in the movie and just how he behaves on screen is outlandishly funny 14 years later.

I didn't even mention the whole mental institution football player scene or my favorite line, “I'm looking for Rey Finkle and a clean pair of shorts!”
People are quoting this movie even to this day and as well they should be. This movie is just line after line of good comedic writing that it should be handled with care. The ending scene with Ace and the Dolphins mascot has me in tears every time I see it because its just so outrageously funny. “You just cost me 20 grand polly!”

'Ace Ventura' will forever be the movie that made me at one point in time want to become a Pet Detective and have a pet monkey named Spike, but yet didn't we all? No, just me, ok! This movie is just so damn funny, I think it's actually about time I go pop it in to the old DVR player as we speak. Remember that objects in the mirror are always closer then they appear!

Stay tuned as tomorrow I unveil numbers 6 and 5 on TK's Top 10 Comedies Since I've Been Alive- 1986. I'd offer you guys a clue but I don't want to spoil your appetite just yet...
