Sorry that this post is a little late and I promise to have them up on Monday nights from now on but '24' has been a show that I've watched since it debuted, and could possibly be my favorite show of all time.
'24' this season has been exactly what fans ordered. After a terrible, lackluster and may I say predictable last season, the show has gotten back down to what it's all about, great television and drama. With new additions to this years cast including Sherry Jones as our Madam President Taylor, the show has become rejuvenated and full of surprises.
So on with the recap: We continued with the hostage situation inside the White House this week as Bauer and Buchannan tried to devise a plan to rescue the President from General Juma. So as President Taylor is forced to read a speech written by Juma about the evil things the United States has done to his country, a plan is set in motion that will require Bauer to save his life. But we as 24 fans should know better! Jack informs Bill that the lockdown room is full of natural gas after he opened up something (sorry can't remember) and tells us he is going to sacrifice himself and try to take out as many of Juma's men as possible so that Jack can make a run for the President. What follows is exactly that and may quite possibly be one of the most emotional moments in the show's history, at least in my opinion.
Bill manages to secure a gun and shoots it up into the air thus setting off an explosion and killing himself while knocking out several of Juma's henchmen in the process. Outside Agent Moss and his men hear the explosion and in comes to cavalry. Jack and Agent Pierce, whom I'm glad didn't die, protect the President as a gun fight breaks out in the White House. Needless to say the hostage situation gets resolved but then the scene I was captivated by was when Jack fell to the ground and just stared at Bill. I know it's just television but my lord, the emotion in that scene was great. Irony some would say after what Agent Walker and Jack talked about not too long ago about feeling anything on the job, well she saw first hand that even Jack Bauer feels pain and hurts from the loss of a friend.
Elsewhere we find that the President's naughty daughter had a interesting agenda during the election that almost cost her mom the election but her and the President reconcile their past during the crisis and President Taylor asks her Chief of Staff Ethan to ask her to join her Administration as a special adviser. Also interesting to see that she is on the warpath now to find out who inside the government is working against her mom, should be fun to watch.
Elsewhere tonight...
-What kind of weapons is Jonas(Jon Voight) getting from Juma? And as we saw he has established some preliminary targets with big casualities. I can't wait for the showdown between Jonas and Jack.
-Does anyone else dislike Agent Moss as much as me? Agent Walker being suspended, well we all know that is not going to stand, and I smell love blooming between Walker and our boy Jack in the near future, just a hunch. Agent Moss has some sort of agenda if you ask me and I think it will be revealed later in the season, but I've been wrong before.
-And one of the last events on the show was Jack going back in to finish what he started against Ryan. Thought the whole scene was done well and how is it that the FBI refuses to check ceiling attacks? Will be interesting to see how Moss handles it after Jack called him and told him he was knocked up by a nerve gas while the other guy killed Ryan before he could talk.
Well my first '24' recap. Like I mentioned with Heroes, this is my first so go easy on me, I'll try to approve them from week to week and post them not too long after they air.
Thoughts on the season so far? Is '24' back on track? I think so but would love to hear what you guys think.
