TK's recap of American Idol Top 9

American Idol Top 9
Well Michael Sarver went home last week after I had him in my bottom 3 although had him staying with Scott going home, so lets hope this week I get back on the right track. This week's themed episode is contestant's choice, as long as the song is a popular downloaded song on iTunes. So without further a due, on with the top 9.

-Anoop Desai, sings Caught Up by Usher.
Recap: Well I could barely understand the words at the beginning, so that kind of threw the whole performance off for me. I'm not a huge fan of the song and this performance really didn't do anything for me, or yet alone Anoop in my opinion. He is on one week and off the next, it's so bizarre to watch.
Judges: Randy says it was cool, not right song for him. Kara calls it like a frat boy being dared to sing. Paula contributes nothing really, and Simon calls it a complete and utter mess.
TK's take: I have to say he is going to be in trouble and winds up in the bottom 3.

-Megan Joy, sings Turn your lights down low by Bob Marley.
Recap: Yikes, did not like this at all. Her voice seems to be really awkward lately, and quite frankly this song she sang sucked. Sounds very raspy and annoying to listen too. She has gone from bad to worse over the last couple of weeks, so she's in trouble.
Judges: Kara just comes out and says I think you're in trouble. Paula rambles on, Simon rips everything about it, she's indulgent. Randy doesn't like it.
TK's take: If she isn't in the bottom 3, I quit doing this! Early favorite to go home!

-Danny Gokey, sings What Hurts the Most by Rascal Flatts.
Recap: After a couple of off weeks, I think Danny returns to form tonight. I love that song and thought he does a great job with it. His voice sounds a little odd at times but for the most part he nails it and returns to the top of his game. It's one of his best performances.
Judges: Paula loves it, Simon calls it his best performance of the season, and Randy says he brings it crazy, Kara loves it also, says he connects with the audience.
TK's take: Safe and coasts into the final 8.

-Allison Iraheta, sings Don't Speak by No Doubt.
Recap: It's hard to picture her as just being 16, but I always forget she is. Tonight's performance was not as good as some of her others ones, but still does a good job with it. It could have been better but that's just me saying that.
Judges: Randy, likes the vocals and questions her wardrobe. (Luckily this isn't American Wardrobe) Kara says it's a little forced, Paula likes her voice of course, and Simon hates the clothing, calls it a wanna-be rock star performance.
TK's take: She has some trouble, but is safe and into the next 8.

-Scott MacIntyre, sings Just the way You are by Billy Joel.
Recap: Another contestant who has hit a rough patch lately. Does an ok job with the song, I mean the guy isn't going to win this competition and at points he sounds like he is screaming the song, and I think it's clear that his voice isn't even in the top 5 in the entire show.
Judges: Kara says it's a smart song choice, Paula is thrilled for him, Simon calls it his best performance of the entire season. Randy loves it.
TK's take: Survives another week and goes into the top 8.

-Matt Giraud, sings You Found Me by The Fray.
Recap: Still can't believe he was in the top 3 last week. Although after tonight's performance, I can kind of see why. Did not like it that much. His voice can sound really brilliant at times, but at other moments it leaves me scratching my head. Tonight it was the latter, I was scratching my head. Song is ok and his vocals are just ok.
Judges: Paula doesn't like it that much, calls it a sound a like. Simon doesn't get it, calls it another copy cat performance. Randy calls it the wrong song, and Kara calls him talented, says doesn't deserve to go home.
TK's take: Could be in the bottom 3, it's way too close too call right now. Decision time at the end of the show!

-Lil Rounds, sings I Surrender by Celine Dion.
Recap: I think she does a good job with the song. Celine has a huge power voice as we've all heard, and so does Lil. I think she makes a smart song choice and delivers a solid performance and definitely rebounds this week with a good performance.
Judges: Randy says she sings it well. Kara mimics Randy says same thing, Paula says wants to see the joyful Rounds, Simon says singing to stay in the competition.
TK's take: Could be in trouble and might be in bottom 3.

-Adam Lambert, sings Play That Funky Music by Wild Cherry.
Recap: I like the way he slows the song down, because it's a very upbeat fast song. It gives it an entire new sound and twist to it, and I think it's a solid job. Love the scream tonight, think it's great. He just continues to show why he's the so called 'favorite' on the show. Another performance we won't soon forget from Adam. Love the ending note, yeah dude. I'm really starting to like him more and more, and is slowly turning into one of my favorites.
Judges: Paula praises him. Simon calls it original and likes it, Randy enjoys it, is in the star zone. Kara loves it also.
TK's take: Easily into the top 8, is still the favorite to win the show.

-Kris Allen, sings Ain't No Sunshine.
Recap: He tries on the piano for the first time instead of using his guitar and proves he can do either or. He says he wants to try and go for his moment and I think he goes in that direction. His vocals continue to impress me as each week goes on, and I think this was my favorite performance by him of the entire season. Delivers a very good rendition of this classic song.
Judges: Randy calls him in the zone, one of the best of the night, Kara- that is artistry, Paula loves it, Simon says he exudes confidence, and enjoys it.
TK's take: Safe again, and into the final 8.

Ok so the nine are done, so whose going to the bottom three this week? Well I think two choices are automatic in Anoop and Megan, but the third is tough. It could be either Lil Rounds, Matt or Allison, it's hard to pick.

BOTTOM THREE:
Anoop
Megan
Lil Rounds (3a) just slightly over Matt Giraud (3b)

GOING HOME THIS WEEK:
Megan Joy, and the judges don't use their safety save.
