TK's review of Heroes 'Shades of Gray'

Well for those who don't know, I've been a die-hard and I repeat still a die-hard fan of Heroes since it began. And I would like to take this opportunity to say to Heroes haters, relax, chill out, the show has shown huge improvements from the disasterous second season, that was cut short by the writers strike and the first half of season three, 'Fugitives.' Having said that, Bryan Fuller has returned and his first written episode of Heroes will debut on 3/23 and from the previews it looks to be amazing.

So the episode entitled Shades of Gray, finally led Sylar (Zachary Quinto rocks by the way,) to his long lost dad, who we find out is in the middle of god knows where and like to gut small animals, poor rabbits. From last week's episode we are made aware that Sylar's father has the ability to slice people's heads as I like to say as mini Gabriel watched his own father sell him as an infant and more importantly and dramatizing, killed his own mother, which has led Sylar to this point. He wants answers no matter what the cost, and we soon discover that Samson (the dad) has become ill with cancer and is hooked up to a breathing machine. We also discover that he has other abilities too. I'm not exactly sure what it is but I think he whistles and it renders the other one kind of drowsy or something, please if anyone else knows fill me in here, but yeah.

During the gutting of our rabbit friend, Sylar accidentally slices his hand with the knife and seeing that our bad guy has the power to heal quickly, it soon gets the old brain working as Samson realizes with the power he can become healthy again. So using the old hand waving trick he pins our bad guy against the wall using two arrows and does his supposed whistle thing and renders Sylar knocked out, or so we think. The hunter takes a knife to his son's head and just about as he's ready to get out that power, Sylar the possum uses his abilities to push his dad away and also performs some surgery on himself pulling the arrows from his body, nice! Sylar decides not to murder his father as he originally plans to do but decides he is small game and will let nature take it's course and kill him slowly, painfully and alone.

Elsewhere in this episode we find struggles between Nathan and the creepy Danko. Danko is obviously become aware that there is more to Nathan than meets the eye and sets out to find out his secrets and even meets with the master manipulator herself, Angela Petrelli for an awkward lunch, where we learn about an incident from Danko's past that some might not want to hear about. Throughout the episode it's a Nathan v. Danko conflict as the other tries to get the other to leave Building 26 and take up the operation as each one sees fit to do. Later on we find Nathan has gone to the President and tells Danko that he is no longer on this operation. So what does Danko do, confronts Nathan and Noah by a window and pushes him out of the window where of course Nathan reveals his ability that he can fly and flies away into the night.

The other intriguing sub plot story on Heroes tonight was the evolution of Claire. I mean this because lately I'm enjoying her character a lot more than in season's past, besides her good looks of course. But getting back to tonight, we find Claire aka Barbie with our old friend Eric Doyle or the puppet master as he is told by Rebel to go find claire because he will need her help. I feel that the writers have finally gotten things right with Claire as she is becoming the hero she feels she was all along. She can't be hurt and is helping those with abilities escape the agents and the wrath of Danko. She comes to his aid after a distress text message from Rebel and she gets him all the proper documentation he will need to start over, just like she has had to do many times before. It will be interesting to see how Claire will become now as her free pass is up and is on the run, or in the air as we see her in the arms of Nathan at the conclusion of the episode.

I didnt want to say too much about the opening bomb sequence because well lets face it, we knew Parkman wasn't going to die, and Im glad because he is one of my favorite characters on the show.

Some other notes:

The Matt Parkman baby, what the hell is going on with that? That better lead somewhere and fast.

Can we please give Hiro back his power? He has become such a wasted character on the show and I hate to say it because he used to be such a badass guy but now is reduced to nothing more than a joke on the show. PLEASE GIVE HIRO BACK HIS POWER!

WHO IS REBEL? Fans of the show please comment and leave me your thoughts. I think it's Micah but then again he is just a kid but who else can it be?

So my first Heroes/TV tidbit... there will be many more to come, so please I promise to make them better each time out.
