Ok the time has come. I can't hold my tongue anymore. Brendan a good friend suggested I do a blog on the state of one of my favorite shows and I suppose his, 'Family Guy.' The show has gotten on my nerves the last couple of months and for more then one reason. First before I start this little rant, I would just like to inform all those who read it, how much I love(d) this show over the last couple of years, as I felt this show was one of the funniest things i've ever seen. From hillarious lines to unforgettable flashbacks, Family Guy had it all. But wow how the times have changed.
I would like for Family Guy main man Seth Macfarlane to explain to fans for the reason behind the absolutely ridiculous reason behind the lack of consecutive episodes this past season. What the hell takes so long for new episodes to come out? The Simpsons don't seem to have any problems with it? It is freaking ridiculous. From week to week it would be an all new Simpsons, King of the Hill and American Dad, but a repeat of Family Guy, what gives? To state my claim, Family Guy aired on November 16, 2008, and when did their next episode air? Was it when major network shows started back up again in either late January or early February, nope. They didn't have a new episode on until February 15, 2009.
And we waited for that episode entitled Oceans Three and a Half, for three months and it was awful. three months of repeats for that? I think we all deserve a little better then that. And when I was asked by my brother if it was new the next week I said no, because that would only make sense right? It then took almost another month for a new episode of Family Guy to air. March 8th to be exact. That episode was called Family Gay and lets just say the episode was nothing to write home about.
And that brings us to tonight's episode, 'The Juice is on the loose'. I just got done watching it on my DVR and lets just say I was a milli-second away from deleting the episode only 7 minutes into it. What started off as something to look forward to, turned into something just stupid as hell. Conway Twitty for three minutes? Really Seth MacFarlane? You one of the highest paid writers in Hollywood couldn't come up with some original material for that three minute period with your room full of writers? What a waste of an episode.
This show has turned into a complete joke and I'm starting to second guess setting my series recording for it down the road. I'd like to offer Seth some TK advice:
-Stop working on all three shows at once. For those who don't know Seth works on Family Guy, American Dad, and the upcoming Cleveland show, set to debut this fall. How about giving up some of the old creative power to someone else and focusing on the show that's made you all your millions. I've seen American Dad and quite frankily think it's just awful, nothing like Family Guy, good family guy that is. I think it's clear that Seth's head is in more then one place at one time and the quality of the show has suffered as a result. I think you owe it to fans like myself who watch it every Sunday to focus on one show. The fact of the matter is that the last 3-4 episodes have been some of the worst episodes in the show's history.
So I am here beggin for Seth to get his head out of his ass, along with his writers to get their shit together and fix Family Guy. Enough with the three minute stupid flashbacks that go no where and just drag and drag... for if the next couple of episodes don't produce any laughs, I'm afraid I think it's time to jump ship and find a new Sunday Night show to watch. Because I just can't take another episode like tonight's, because my god it was awful.
And that is TK's take.
