Now I know what you're thinking, what is an almost 23 year old going to see the latest Pixar child movie? Well all I can say to that is, shut up leave me alone. Just kidding of course. But in all seriousness, Pixar has done it again. With hits including Finding Nemo, Cars, Wall-E and Toy Story 1-2, and now Up, the films just keep getting better and better.
Up is a terrific movie and is generally suited for any age group. The movie is visually stunning and the story is one full of laughs, heart break and adventure. Our directors- Pete Docter and Bob Peterson grab us from the movie starts rolling and doesn't let go. They introduce us to a young boy in the beginning of the film who anyone can relate to. A young kid who is an explorer and wants to go on extraordinary adventures. His name is Carl Fredrickson. A very shy and quiet young boy likes to keep to himself and has an obsession with the world's greatest explorer- Charles Muntz. Charles has been all over the world and has captured and brought back some of the world's most hidden gems so that all of the public could see.
Although, things go terribly wrong upon Charles return as scientists prove that his latest find is fabricated. Of course this is a devastating blow to Charles career and it impacts Carl very much but it doesn't steer him off of his dream to become just like his mentor. So one day as he is walking outside pretending he is in an adventure of his own, he hears a young girl inside this house and she is on a wild crazy adventure. He of course sneaks inside to get a peak and discovers she is just like him, an adventurer and an explorer who dreams of going to South America, her name is Ellie. The two immediately connect and fall madly in love.

They both dream big and that one day they both will go to South America to explore the wild and unknown. But as the years go by their dream is unreached and they get older and older until one day Carl is left all alone. Forced to either move into a retirement home or stay at home and figure out how to make his dream become a reality.
So one day, Carl gets an unexpected knock at his door by a young wilderness explorer by the name of Russell. This kid is a younger version of Carl and is in need of obtaining one more patch- helping the elderly patch. So Carl who of course doesn't want to be bothered sends him on a wild goose hunt for this imaginary animal which distracts him. All of a sudden it's like an energy is put into this old man as he sets off on his journey as his house is taken away by thousands of balloons and a frightened young boy on his porch step. The movie just flows seamlessly as their adventure unfolds. The story about how Carl tries to keep a life long promise that he and his sweetheart Ellie made is truly moving and exciting to watch. I haven't in a long time routed for a character so much in a movie to achieve his goal. The adventure that Carl and Russell go on and the bond they form is quite moving as well. The friends they meet along the way including the laugh out loud Dug the dog, is amazing. The comedy in this movie is one that all can laugh at and it makes you feel like a kid again. The comedy drives the movie and has you laughing all the time.
Their journey takes us all back to when we were just like that. Young at heart and wanting to go on crazy wild adventures of our own. Up is a terrific movie and is one of the most sound fundamental movies to come out in a long time. By this I mean the story and plot stay so focused and doesn't stray away from what the directors are trying to tell. Pixar just know how to make the hits and in this movie fan's opinion- Up is their best one to date.TK's rating- 5/5 stars, a terrific movie. A must see film!
