24 Season Finale Recap 6:00-8:00a.m.
Wow, I can't believe the last two hours and how the writers left us hanging at the end of the finale, but we will touch on that later. Emotions were all over the place tonight as 24 wrapped up it's seventh season and in my opinion one of it's best. There were a couple of story lines that mostly wrapped up tonight with a few new ones still hanging in the balance, that you just know will wreak havoc heading into next season which doesn't debut until January 2010. Yeah 2010!
Kim is slowly becoming aware that something at the airport is going wrong and after noticing a small trail of blood on the man's neck she starts to wonder. Her plane finally beings to board and her name is called and at the desk she gets a phone call and it's Renee explaining to her that she is in danger and then she realizes it's the couple she has been sitting next to all along. The couple suspect that Kim is catching on to them and she grabs a knife and pulls it out and a gun fight ensues. The man escapes but the woman is killed thanks to some quick thinking by Kim.
Kim chases after the man and follows him to the lower level of a parking garage. Police officers shoot at him in his car and he flips his car and it is set on fire and Kim manages to rescue the computer he was carrying and thinks that with Chloe's help they will be able to pin point where Tony and Jack are.
Agent Pierce has called in Ethan to get the digital recording that Olivia had in her office dealing with Jonas Hodges. The two manage to obtain the memory card but Olivia arrives back in her office and after noticing a painting hanging on the wall she sees the voice recording system and has security immediately secure Ethan. She goes to confront him where he is forced to hand over the memory card. He does but gives her a warning and says she has no idea what she is getting into. She destroys the card but however isn't resting easy knowing that Ethan will stop at nothing to bring her down. Flash forward to Ethan being escorted to his car by Pierce where he has a USB port in his car so that he can play the card.
He hears her conversation with the guy about planning on taking Hodges out and goes to confront her. He offers her an ultimatum and tells her to go tell her mother about what she has done. But we'll return to this later.
Meanwhile Jack manages to spring Tony from FBI custody and Tony handcuffs Jack and takes him with them. We find out that they want to use Jack's blood and organs to restart the pathogen and to make another bio weapon. They test Jack's spinal fluid and knock him out. We learn that the pathogen level is high and they would need to use his organs to make it work properly. Tony lets us know that he wants to become more involved in the company and a meeting is arranged with Alan Wilson, the man who is at the head of all this planning.
Forward to Jack and Tony. Tony is hooking up C4 explosives to Jack as we learn that he is playing both sides in order to get back at Alan for murdering his wife. He tells Jack that this is all part of his plan but Jack just lets him know that he is disgracing Michelle's name and that innocent of people have died and Tony counters him with saying that he was the real hero today not him and if it weren't for his actions, thousands more would of died. He tapes Jack's mouth shut and lets him know that Alan is going to pay for what he did to him.
Outisde Alan and his own personal army arrive to meet Tony and Cara. Alan is informed that Tony wants to become a major player in the company and Jack is brought outside to ultimately seal the deal but before Tony can press the button, Renee and company show up and a gun fight ensues. Everyone goes off in their own direction and Renee is able to find Jack and she disarms the bomb on his chest. (Apparently she has worked with explosives before.) Cara and Alan are wondering the basement alone and they run into Tony and just as Cara goes to tony asking how it is they are going to escape, Tony pulls the trigger and kills Cara, leaving him to confront the man who has taken everything from him.
I've said this before, but in what might have been one of the most emotional scenes in 24 series history, Tony goes off on Alan and we learn that when Michelle died, she was pregnant with Tony's son. He screams it repeatedly and I would be lying if I didn't shed a small tear, because that was such an emotional moment and you really felt for Tony, minus all the bad stuff he did prior to this. Just before Tony can pull the trigger Jack and Renee arrive and they manage to de arm Tony and then Tony and Alan are both taken into custody.
Renee confronts Alan about the conspiracy but Alan tells him that they won't find a shed of evidence connecting him to this and that they can talk to his attorneys. Renee goes to Jack for advice where Jack just says he can't tell her what to do but to follow the decisions that her heart tell her to do and to make sure that it is what she wants to do.
Olivia confronts her family and tells them what she did concering Jonas Hodges. It is met with a state of shock and horror. President Taylor can't believe it while Mr. Taylor isn't so outraged because this man was responsible for their son's death. President Taylor has to do some serious thinking and in the end she has to be the President of the United States and uphold the oath she took. She orders that Agent Pierce take Olivia into custody and as much as it hurts the President to do so she has no other choice. Olivia and her father are in shock and you know that this is not going to sit well with the Taylor family. In the end, Ethan gets his old job back as Chief of Staff but at what cost, as President Taylor has no one left around her, but Ethan says she still has him.
We are also left with Renee ordering Janis to handcuff herself in the holding container room and she apparently is going to end it all by taking Alan out but we don't ever get to see what she does so we are left guessing, but my guess is she can't throw her career away and Alan is going to walk away because of no paper work connecting him to this operation.
Jack is now at the hospital and is met by the holy man at the hospital where the two embrace in a prayer and ask for forgiveness for their past sins. Jack looks at him and thanks him for coming and he seems at peace and has accepted what is coming next. Kim has arrived at the hospital and wants to know if it is too late to do the stem cell research. The doctor informs her yes and she makes a call and asks that a room be immediately be prepared for surgery. Kim goes into her father's room and explains to him her decisions and tells him, she isn't ready to let him go yet...
TK's take on the 24 season finale:
It was a very good one. I was angry at first with how it ended because we don't know what happened to Jack, well we do because it's Jack and he can't die. The show left a lot of options open heading into next season, because Alan is still alive along with Tony, who I hope is brought back next season. Overall it was one of the most solid seasons 24 has ever had. I am sad now that I have to wait a half a year for another season but I can wait. God speed 24 and Jack Bauer, God speed!
