American Idol Final Two
Adam Lambert vs. Kris Allen
Ok, so last week I didn't predict Danny going home so that was kind of depressing as I think he is still a better singer and performer then Kris, but whatever, what do I know? So were down to our final two and with the heavy favorite Adam looking to presumably capture the crown, Kris is putting up a fight over the last couple of weeks. So let's get on with the show shall we?
Each guy gets to sing three songs- Favorite performance of season, creator's choice, and a song co written by judge Kara.
-Adam Lambert, sings Mad World. (Personal pick)
Recap: One of his most praised, if not his most praised performance of the season, so expectations are high. Awesome beginning, including the fog and him in the background of the light. His voice sounds amazing and it's like he is the original artist of this track. He sounds on top of his game as the song progresses and he has the look like he is out to win it all tonight, and it starts with the first performance.
Judges: Randy says an A for Adam, Kara calls him an incredible artist, Paula tells him how proud he is, and Simon calls it a bit over theatrical, but a good performance.
TK's take: Absolutely sensational, just as good as the first time he sung it, if not better.
-Kris Allen, sings Ain't No Sunshine (Personal Pick)
Recap: It's a pretty solid performance but for me it just doesn't have the wow factor. I'm not taking away anything from his singing talent, because yes Kris can sing, but the performance part of it lacks for me so it's a bit of a head scratcher. Vocally wise, he sounds good on the song and it isn't a bad song for his style.
Judges: Randy can tell what kind of artist he can be, calls it one of his best, Kara agrees with Randy, says it's very moving and calls it intimate, Paula praises it, and Simon says that America made the right choice having Kris in the final.
TK's take: Well after one song, I have to give the edge to Adam but Kris does sing the song quite well, so it's a close battle after one round.
Simon calls round one in Kris's favor, um disagree.
-Adam Lambert, sings Chance is Gonna Come.
Recap: Honestly don't know the song. It's a good edgy song, and again I think he sounds very sharp on it. The scream in the middle just adds to the song's overall premise. He does over sing it a bit in the middle but he does wrap it up quite nicely and again I just think that he is on the top of his game right now and is setting himself apart. Closing note is great. Another solid performance.
Judges: Randy says you can sing your face off and it was unbelievable, Kara calls it his best performance of the season along with the interpretation, Paula says that was the best she has ever heard him sing, Simon says you are 100% back in the game, dumb comment.
TK's take: Great performance, that's all you got to say.
-Kris Allen, sings What's Going On.
Recap: Not a fan of the original so this should be great. I'm not a big fan of the arrangement, I don't think this song is meant to have an acoustic sound to it. The thing that Adam does and that Kris can't is put his own spin on a song and make it work. I don't think Kris does this song justice. Vocally yes he sounds good but it's not one of those performances that makes him stand out as the potential winner of this show!
Judges: Randy calls it a little bit light at this point, Kara calls it true to himself and it's a good job, Paula says he tore that song up and Simon says it's like three friends singing in their bedroom, strumming along.
TK's take: Solid vocals, but just an average performance. Simon says exactly what I says, thank you Simon.
Round Two: Goes to Adam without a doubt.
-Adam Lambert, sings No Boundaries.
Recap: It's a Kara song, so I'm interested to hear it. It's got some great lyrics in the song and I think it's a great song actually and again I'm repeating myself, Adam sings it quite well. I can see this being a smash single for him. It's got meaning in the lyrics and that is the kind of song I like. His performance is simple but the power can be heard in his voice and it hits you. It's a solid way to end his Idol journey for sure. Could of used some power screaming but it's not the type of song for that now is it.
Judges: Randy calls it just alright and says it's a bit pitchy, Kara says she is moved by the performance, Paula is in awe of what he has done all season long and Simon calls him one of the best and one of the most original the show has ever had and Simon think he is going to be a world wide star.
TK's take: It's a great performance, not one his best but it is still very good.
-Kris Allen, sings No Boundaries.
Recap: I think it's quite clear to see that Kris struggles with this song and his voice doesn't sound very good in a couple of parts. He is clearly having difficulty singing the song and it shows in his performance. At the slow parts it is just alright at best. I think this might be the final nail in his coffin because he just falls really flat after this performance the clear worst of the night.Judges: Randy says he should be very proud of himself, Kara calls him a compelling artist and has come into his own, Paula says he has done an amazing job and Simon says he deserves everything at this point.
TK's take: Not good, struggles and you can hear it in his voice.
Best of the Night- Adam Lambert- Mad World
Worst of the Night- Kris Allen- No Boundaries.
Well if you paid attention to the judges comments, they pretty much are handing the crown to Adam Lambert and I hope they are right. He has been one of the most original singers ever on this show and every week he separated himself from the competition and deserves to win the crown. I hope that Adam wins but with the roll Kris is on I won't be shocked with how it ends.
TK'S AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 8 CHAMPION: ADAM LAMBERT!
I've said it all year and I think he will win. I think not as many people like Adam as I do, but he is a better singer and performer and is going to have a bigger career in the long run then Kris will and that's the facts. He has been the best all season and I hope America crowns him such tomorrow night!!!
