The Office Company Picnic finale recap

The Office Season Finale Recap: Company Picnic

Sorry for the delay folks but I promise it will all be worth it. Anyone up for some Slunder Mifflin games? I promise not to give away all of corporates secrets.

Tonight's episode opener may have topped last week's opener, one in which I thought was one of the best the show has ever had. The whole thing with trying to get out of work early and the elaborate ways in which the entire staff pitches in to accomplish this is great. From setting Michael's clock in his car forward to them sneaking into his office to change his watch and computer time, it's all priceless.

Anyways, the gang along with the other branches set out for a company picnic and wouldn't you know Michael and Holly cross paths there and of course she has a boyfriend, A.J. What gives Office buffs? Why can't these two be together, they are perfect for one another? They are soup, or was it soul mates? Michael you can tell is very upset about it and of course makes thing very awkward whenever AJ is around, and of course it's great. Michael and and Holly are put in charge of coming up with a routine to tell the story of how Dunder Mifflin came to be and settle on spoofing Slumdog Millionaire and to their surprise they don't get very many laughs and also reveal that corporate is closing the Buffalo branch, the companies leading branch by the way. Buffalo people are shocked as they had no idea and it was Michael who spilled the beans because he had a personal chat with David Wallace who informed him what was going to happen.

Dwight and his new best friend set up the Dunder Mifflin volleyball team and the altercation they have with Angela is priceless. Calling her a whore and a cheater, the guy really is a copy of Dwight and I love it. We learn that Pam has played volleyball in junior high, high school, college and some camps as well, God I love her. Of course she is their best player and carries the team on their backs and sets them up in a classic showdown against the corporate team. No thanks to Jim who had a terrifying spider in the mit accident last picnic. During play, Pam hurts herself and because it happened in a corporate event, Charles and David suggest that she sit out and go have it checked. So insisting she could play, Jim decides to carry her off the field and they go to a near by hospital that Dwight so easily spotted on the way here.

Dwight uses his mind to try and stall the game so that Jim and Pam could both return or else they would have to put in the subs. One is the eager half shirt Meredith and well Angela would just not be let into the game because of the fact she ripped apart Dwight's heart. So Pam is at the hospital with Jim giving Dwight constant updates and just before the two are getting ready to go, the doctor calls in Jim and of course we have no audio. What happens next, is a great moment and is brilliantly, brilliantly acted out by Jim and Pam. The two embrace in a huge and kiss and are all smiles which ultimately leads us to the conclusion that our favorite couple are PREGNANT!!! Of course none of this has been confirmed but one can only assume that this is indeed what the news is.

We also leave tonight with Michael being unable to find the right moment to tell Holly how he really feels and it's saddening, because I think Michael deserves to be happy with someone, and the show is just not letting him fulfill that, and I think it's about time those two are together. The interest is still there and is very evident throughout the entire time the two were together and alone, but we shall see what lies ahead for both Michael and Holly.

Random tidbits from tonight's episode:

-Charles, I just dislike his characters

-Meredith's outfit tonight for volleyball, cut off shirt with the boots

-Dwight's best friend was very well casted and extremely funny, so well done.

-Angela sitting on the sidelines trying to play

-Jim's stability with Pam's boobs, priceless.

-Andy trying to have Erin in his line during the game, and Dwight misinterpreting it all, great stuff.

TK's thoughts on 'The Office Season Five':

I thought this season was the best yet of the show. After a shortened season four, the writers and actors rebounded with a vengeance and put the show back to where it was before. The story lines were great, and the interaction that some minor characters got this season was great. It only sucks now that we have to wait four long months for a brand new episode of this show, but time flies and it'll be sooner then later that all of our questions about Michael/Holly and Jim/Pam will be answered. But until then, season five will be on DVD sometime soon, so I'll have that to enjoy this summer, as like I always do, it'll be time for an Office viewing marathon party, so whose with me?

  1. David Wallace should have known better than to say anything to Michael much less just let him do what he wants in a skit and even much less just let him get away with a short reprimanding. I hope they aren't setting him up to be written off the show for next season with this poor management! He's total eye candy for me at least and I love to see a sweet nice guy executive for once instead of those Charles Miner types.

  2. David Wallace isn't going anywhere. He's always been the one who battles Michael. He was the one who tore Michael and Holly apart, but the show won't send him away, and I would agree with you about Charles. I thought his character sucked.
