Well friends, what the hell happened last week? Adam Lambert in the bottom two, are you guys watching the same show as me? The dude rocks and I think he is going to shine through on what else, 'Rock Week' with my favorite rock icon- Slash. I've been looking forward to this week since it was announced so lets hope it's good. At least Matt went home because let's face it, he couldn't of won anyways. So now were down to our final four- Adam, Danny, Kris and Allison. So as Queen says, 'The show must go on.' So crank up the drums, bass and oh yeah the guitars for our Idol final four!
This week's theme- Rock Week, hell yeah!
Mentor- The one and only SLASH!!! (VERY JEALOUS)
We learn that the songs will be sung in duets so it all sounds good.
-Adam Lambert, sings Whole Lotta Love. (Before he performs, hell yeah)
Recap: Yes one of my all time favorite songs, so let's hope he nails it. Well I don't like it, I love it. He sounds like he is made to cover this song and it flat out rocks. His voice adds an extra edge to this already classic edgy rock classic. I'd pay to see him sing all rock tunes, and I love how he incorporated some of the rock guitar solo into it also. But his vocals were spot on and I'm still wondering why he was in the bottom two last week? And the ending was absolutely dynamite.
Judges: Randy the dog says this is the Adam that I love, and he's a rock star, Kara calls him a rock god, Paula loves the band and calls him a whole lot of perfect, and Simon says it was one of his favorite performances he has ever done and says no one can top that.
TK's take: Well we'll wait to the end but I thought it was a classic performance of a classic song.
-Allison Iraheta, sings Cry Baby.
Recap: I thought she did quite the good job. She has the vocals like Slash said to be a good rock singer and I think it shows on this song. I do think there are other songs she could of done but oh well.
Judges: Randy doesn't love the song choice and says it wasn't that great, Kara doesn't like it that much either, Paula says she is downright fearless and says she did a great job, and Simon says she had complete confidence and it was a terrific vocal.
TK's take: Shaky right now not looking too good for the lone girl.
-Kris Allen and Danny Gokey, sing Renegade.
Recap: I was hoping for Danny and Adam but oh well. A great rock song and these two smash it, Kris looks more confident out there but that's just my opinion. Danny sounds really sharp on the performance and definitely has the rockier voice to him compared to Kris who isn't cut out for a rock type song like this. Cool to see a duet on Idol and especially on rock week, so yeah it was a cool performance.
Judges: Randy says they compliment each other well, Kara calls it pitchy, Paula calls it powerful and Simon says Danny you were better then Kris.
TK's take: Doesn't really get voted on but people will obviously judge the two guys from it.
-Kris Allen, sings Come Together.
Recap: One of the most recognizable rock songs of all time and Kris does put his own spin on it but I'm not sure if it works for me. I think he sounds a bit off this week and I just don't think rock is his genre. He delivers a pretty good performance but compared to recent weeks in which he's been thriving I think he kind of falls a bit flat this week.
Judges: Randy says what I said, he isn't the rock guy but does call the song his type of song, Kara says it's a bit softer but doesn't like the performance, says he tries too hard, Paula rambles again about imprints and signatures, and Simon says it was like eating ice for lunch, hmmmm.
TK's take: Not one of his better performances but his fate will be decided at the end.
-Danny Gokey, sings Dream On. (Show is at commercial currently, and I'm going crazy in anticipation.)
Recap: The number 2 song on my all time list, anyways. This is one of the toughest rock songs to sing ever and he starts off by just putting his tone into it. He other then Adam has a really distinctive sound to his voice and it comes through during all of his performances. I love the arrangement of the song as it makes it different and fresh. He belts out the chorus and why I don't love the screeching Dream On to close the song he still delivers one of his better performances ever!
Judges: Randy says it was just alright for him but does commend him for the effort, Kara says he took it a bit too far tonight and makes another stupid comment, (listen bitch, crying and crazy are later Aerosmith songs not early songs, dream on is 73, get your facts right) Paula questions the song choice, and Simon hated the ending note compared it to a horror movie and calls it over the top.
TK's take: Judges don't like it but I did.
-Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta, sing Slow Ride.
Recap: These two kill the song and easily beat Kris and Danny. These two just looked much more comfortable on stage and performing with someone else next to them. So it was a great job by the two of them.
Judges: Randy calls it the bomb, Kara calls them the rock god and goddess, Paula calls it perfect and Simon says they win the battle of the duets.
TK's take: It rocked!
So as for this week's bottom three:
-After hearing the judge's comments I think the only safe bet is Adam but who knows after last week.
So as for my bottom three predictions I gotta go with:
-Kris Allen
-Allison Iraheta
-Danny Gokey
Danny will be sent back first as he is safe and it comes down to Kris vs Allison and I gotta go with my gut feeling on this one and say that it's going to be the end of the line for Kris Allen. He was solid for the last couple of weeks but rock week ultimately does him in. (Won't be shocked if Allison goes home due to bad song choices)
TK's Best of the Night: Adam Lambert solo and his duet with Allison.
TK's Worst of the Night: Kris Allen's Come Together.
TK side note: I've been reading a lot of hate toward the new judge Kara and after tonight I think it's best for the show to get rid of her. She contributes nothing to the show and always says something that is inaccurate. Tonight during Danny's critiquing. Cryin and Crazy were both later songs in Aerosmith's catalog not before Dream On, seeing that that song is one of their very first songs. So enough of Kara, it's time to let go of her, thanks!
TK out!
